How much 24k gold do you calculate that to be?

What amount of surface area of Gold was on the Gold fingers?
Or Gold fingers weight/volume? That's only a guesstimate of the actual Gold return though.
How long did it take to do it?
I won't ask about the actual method that you used......;-)

I'm impressed though. Many talk and very few walk.

Thx to my friend for doing the entire process and that look to be alot of work. That take beetween 1 or 2 month.

The most important is to know if I make more money by cutting and refining my gold finger.

The first test is 30 LB of Ram and the other is 50 LB of gold finger card.

I will have the result of the weight of gold fingers and the weight of gold.

Now I have to wait some days before my friend send me result because this 3.6 gram of gold is not the entire amount of gold extracted

I think that you could have had a much better recovery from 30 pounds of ram, don’t worry though I've lost plenty of gold during my trial days.

From 276 pounds of ram processed I have recovered 1 gram of precious metals per pound of boards processed, what I now have is a combination of gold and palladium, the pd coming from the surface mounted capacitors..

Without the use of chemicals I was able to recover not only finger gold but every speck of gold from the circuit board from which the chips reside. The whole process had taken three months to get the combined precious metals powder, now to separate the gold from the palladium.

A rock tumbler with an abrasive will easily remove the all soft gold from the boards.

Abrasives attack hard materials leaving the soft fibre glass constructed RAM board virtually untouched, funny how that works, When I had my sandblasting company and had to blast a piece of equipment that had glass or hydraulic rams exposed rods I used duct tape to cover the exposed areas the sand would literally bounce off the taped areas. The only way you could penetrate the tape was to hit it for an extended period of time.

Where in Canada are you located, I'm in B.C. currently on Vancouver Island, when the weather improves I'm planing to sail to some of the remote reservations then buy catalytic converters. This is if something else does not come up to catch my fancy.

There are better ways to accomplish what you are attempting to do, but this forum is not the place for these types of discussions as without proper processing, regardless of what method you choose to use, it can be very dangerous and even life threatening. And it certainly shouldn't take as long as you have posted it took you.

The acid peroxide method is a good cheap way to start a copper chloride solution, but once started, there are far easier and less expensive methods to continue the solution without adding more peroxide.

You might serve your purpose better by checking out the gold refining forum:

I try to direct anyone talking about chemical processes in regards to recovering and/or refining precious metals, to GRF. The questions asked, or direction, instruction, methods etc are more suitable on that site than here. You probably know just as I do that these processes can and are very dangerous, specially for someone who is just starting to learn. I have know people who are also knowledgeable in this subject, who have also experienced everything from crucible failures, to accidentally creating dangerous solutions that have or could have caused extreme harm. It's dangerous in a way that a lot of people just simply don't consider prior to attempting recovering or refining.

I would suggest to the OP that they check out GRF and discuss their recovery method here. It's one thing to post pictures, and awesome that the OP is proud of what he has accomplished up to this point. But the reality is that the actually processes really shouldn't be discussed here. If you notice, I was careful in saying what I did, and only mentioned what was already mentioned, that being the specific process that the OP disclosed he was using. Anything more would have been irresponsible on my part.

I would also suggest that the OP obtain a free digital copy of Hoke's Refining Precious Metals Wastes. The mechanical means of which I use, the equipment I make is basically from Ammens book on Refining Precious metals.

I see no harm in discussing mechanical means of recovering your gold and platinum metals as the most toxic chemical you may encounter would be the use of H2o - water.

Recovering your metals does not necessarily mean you have to take it to the refining level, one could choose to ship those concentrates to a refinery. But it would not be in the best interest of anyone buying electronic waste to promote any recovery process utilising just a mechanical process.

For me in Canada it makes perfect sense to ship the concentrates from a 45 gallon drum of ram are now contained within a medicine bottle which now weighs a mere 276 grams the savings in shipping will certainly add to my bottom line as well allow me to be more competitive with future buys.

As for the stripped RAM circuit boards there is a bit of nickel plating left on the spaces where the gold once resided, if the bare boards were now feed through a hammer mill with the ground up material fed over a shaker table one could easily recover the copper.

A centrifuge would also work to separate the copper from the ground up pulp.

Just water, no other chemicals needed.

alloy2 and NobalMetalWorks are two of the best we have at SMF on the subject of PM's. They both have demonstrated to me their abilities, knowledge of subject and most important, a willingness to share with all of us. We would all be the wiser, to at least give each consideration of their suggestions. When it comes to issues of safety concerns for people and the environment, any personal financial gain needs to take a "back seat" until you know what the risk represent!

I like the fact that both members take a different approach to PM's and the recovery of them in the scrap business. There is a lot of room for this area of scrap metal recovery that has yet to be utilized at it's needed level (IMOP).
