    Capacitors - worth holding?

    Hey guys,
Getting offered a lot of capacitors lately, larger ones, not the ones from boards but larger. Is there a market for these?

I have been buying them for 0.01 and throwing them in my tin pile. This is the shredded kind, I also have larger ones on offer that are intact. Not sure whether its worth my time to perusing this or not.

I don't think they can be worth much. Theres paper and Steel in with the Ali. The Ali was 'high grade' but by now its covered in oxide.
Theres plastic too. Then the oil....

The oils a 'dielectric alkyne' or something. From what I can figure out from microwave capactors, its mostly of two sorts. Its not PCB's generally. Realisticly its probably not PCB but since its such a scarey topic no one wants to touch them anyway.
I have a idea the oils related to DEET, it smells similar. Thats a insect repellant chemical.

I do have long term intentions of looking into this more, from a chemical point of view. If the oils is similar to DEET, then maybe DEET could be used and recycled capactors could have the oil extracted and used in 3rd world countrys to kill mosquitoes. Dreams are free.
Or the oil can be extracted and used for something else. Maybe capactors..

The thin Ali foil is very wastefull in a Ali furnace, too much oxides on it. They need a arc furnace and Cryolite to render the oxide back down into Ali metal.
Since Alumina is worth US$350 a ton and uses the same process to make high quality Ali. Theres no advantage in using dirty capactors to do the same job.

Done properly they could make money, just like CRT glass can. But its just not worth it at the moment. And right now is probably the best time to do it too
    .
So the future for capactors? I wish someone could do something. Theres a huge amount of them out there to play with.
