How much can you sell Tantulum Capacitors per pound?

I am not talking about the little ones on high grade boards, I am talking about the ones that are all over low grade boards that come in all shapes, sizes, colors etc. I assume the ones everyone mentions are $100 per pound are the little boxes from the high grade, what about the ones from low grade?

A lot of caps you see are just regular caps and not necessarily tant. caps.

you're not going to find much tantalum on low grade. Check the buyer's section for prices, there are at least two buyers there

Thats another thing, I am a new user to this forum and I have noticed I have been bombarded by people wanting to buy stuff from me and emailing me, is there a way to block these spammers? I only sell stuff in person at physicall places because whats the point of shipping stuff to someone you dont know?

They arent "caps" I am sure to save all the relays and get the silver and copper out. These are the kind that break easy and powder comes out.

Lets put it this way! I can sell ram to a buyer on this board [in the buyer section] for twice what I can sell it locally. Why would I sell it locally???????

each buyer has a thread. in the thread are accounts of transactions and/or seller feedback, people who try to scam others here do not last long. That being said check out the buyers section and see the prices for yourself you may be surprised at the EASY money to be gained by shipping instead of selling local.

Shenmue; I can only speak for myself but I have been a member of this forum for over two years and I have never had an e-mail from anybody that I did not personaly ask for. How would any body on this forum get your e-mail address? If you would send me a PM I would tell you the best e-waste buyer on the forum is.

If you are getting unsolicited PMs/emails, please report them to a moderator. We take this seriously but we can't know about them unless you tell us using the "!" icon on the lower left corner of every post and PM. I, for one, don't fool around with spammers. I have a very large hammer for "whack-a spammer".
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Like Happy, I never get unsolicited PM's from buyers, or sellers. I do in other matters, but usually questions, an I'm quite ok with that. I don't think our buyers do these kind of things, lest the ones that been around awhile an want to stay. Oh an Happy unless it's changed, you can have your email on your message avatar drop menu appear, when folks click on it to send you a pm, etc.

Spamming someone is highly annoying, an a sure fire way to make them do the opposite. I won't even comment on your sell local, why sell to someone else. Plenty of answers to that question right here on the forums, or by viewing a buyers thread.

Not surprised Mick, an I'm sure Mech an Parrot will crack down on anyone spamming solicitations etc. There is one thing annoys me, is to join, an then immediately try an befriend everyone. It's not a game people, those with the most friends don't win. We're not facebook, or Zanga games where you have to befriend someone! I've had this happen twice now, an notice...those hardly ever come back here.

If you want to be friends, contact, etc..awesome. I'll be your buddy, but at lest post a intro or something! /end rant/taking home soapbox.

If you can sell them for $100.00# I have 1100# for you to sell. there is one type that could go that high but you will need quite a few 100# to do that.

If you look at my blog it will list caps and styles for you to be more familiar with. if you have any questions I will be happy to help.(even if you don't sell to me.)

low grade boards have little to no Ta caps on them. Most likely you are seeing MLCC in epoxy and they have little to no value as well.

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". Eleanor Roosevelt - "There are two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live". John Adams - "You have to go wholeheartedly into anything in order to achieve anything worth having". Frank Loyd Wright - Now let's break down the scrap term "Low-Grade Board" and next we will do "$100.00 a pound". Now this one "A lot of caps you see are regular caps" and then "See the prices for yourself". Really not trying to be rude, You asked "If I already know the answer, why not just tell you" .The answers are all right here for your benefit and please enjoy the reading.

Shenmue, many people assume any capacitor with a "mustard-like" color is a tantalum capacitor but I can assure you, you will rarely find them on low grade boards. Generally, since it is a low grade board they are not going to spend money on expensive tantalum capacitors when the can merely make the casing for the board larger to accomodate the larger but cheaper aluminum and ceramic capacitors. ive seen numbers for the scrap value at $20/Lb for SMD or through hole style Ta Caps and even much higher, perhaps double but only with quantity. however it takes a substantial amount of time (i mean weeks, ive done it) to generate a couple of pounds. It is a fruitless adventure unless you desire wages comparable to Chinese laborers. perhaps its nice to throw in a couple here or there but do not rely on it as a source of income. id give you detailed info on how to determine what a Ta Cap looks like but ive spent many a late night reading up on these. to demand outright this kind of info, to me, is asking for a shortcut because you dont want to do any of the hard work. there are plenty of resources out there but you must do your homework

We already told you, go to the Scrap Buyers and Sellers area and look at their prices for tantalum. Then learn what a tantalum capacitor is because you're not talking about tantalum in your first post. One Buyer thread has tons of pics and information on how to identify tantalum. At the very least use the search box, you'll just have to spell tantalum correctly.
