Do some googling and you will find the free upgrade stills works as of a couple of months ago. I did an upgrade to one of my rescue machines.

In the beginning I also had issues with Windows 10 but for the last couple of years it has worked fine for me. I do not allow automatic updates but have authorized all updates when I would not interrupt my use of the computer.

I have for many years used Ubuntu for most all my computer OS needs not requiring Windows. 73, Mike

    Thanks Mike,

That's more helpful than you could imagine. Ran across a Toshiba 3rd gen core i5 notebook yesterday. It came in w/o HDD or power cord but had those in the shop. Threw in an 80gb SSD & upgraded the RAM to 8gb pc-3 then re-installed win 7 pro.

I was surprised that the ms version of win 7 didn't have the drivers needed for a full install of all the hardware. Guess i'll have to get those from the manufacturer today. I'll take a run at win 10 later after i've gotten win 7 all squared away.

Jim ... please pardon the derail. Just wanted to pass along my thanks to you and Mike.

I decided to get up early today and and finish getting the dog hair/mouse turd infested stuff out of my ranger. There was about 100 pounds of laptop power adapters and cords and about 50 pounds of laptop batteries.

There were assorted laptops, laptop mother boards, pads and cell phones, 2 computers and a haynes truck manual.

I hauled some things to the scrap yard this week and found this over in the corner. It's the insides of a big server.

I got given some servers & i got the ( wrong ) impression that they were faster better computers, & i could use them for that.
So i googled the part numbers & i found ebay adds for the power supplys with a US$1000 reserve on it.
WoW !! I thought, i coulld get $1000 for just the power supply !

So i keep searching & they have a lot of older computer stuff with these fantastic prices on them.
    But very little completed sales.

And then i figured it out.
They get this stuff, anything pre 1998 say, and put it up with these $1000 reserves.

If some company out there is still using this gear, and a power supply blows, or a tape reader starts chewing up tapes or some other dilemma happens
The first place they are going to look for that part is ebay. And they don't care if they have to pay $1000 to get that part in less than 3 days.

Even one sale would pay for the storage involved.

( I scrapped my power supplys, since somebody else had it sorted, and they didnt want to buy mine..

    Cisco CP-8861

This will be number 37 on the list of different types of phones I've scrapped. As always, Cisco usually has the best boards.

It's been a few weeks ago, but I received a call form someone wanting their old phone system removed. I would have posted pics sooner but.....

Yes, it will go in with other cell phone boards. The board on the left is from the charger.

    Last load of 2019

I received a call Thursday for a pickup. My son just unloaded it because I pulled some muscles in my lower back loading it Friday. It's a b***h getting old. Here's what I ended up with.

    25 computers
    18 15" monitors (not shown)
    1 printer
    1 box of thin clients (not shown}
1 box of keyboards (not shown)
    2 laptops (not shown)
and 3 more heavy boxes I haven't even looked in.

I want to get everything broken down and hauled to the yard or sold for better than scrap value in the next 2 weeks.

Flat Screen Monitors have become a nuisance for me since it appears the market collapsed...…….What are you doing with yours especially those 15" which are totally worthless?...…Any insight would be appreciated

Mike all of the monitors have VGA and power cables. I will test them and donate them to the Salvation Army. They are always happy to take them.

Then I guess the question then is what does the Salvation Army do with them?.....Donation is not an option here
