Not as well as I thought it would. I ended up with $31.79 in #2 copper and $3.15 in metal from the transformers and it took me about 4 hours to complete.

My hands don't work as well as they used to and working with transformers is hard on them. I refuse to sell them for 4 cents a pound though and they were getting in the way.

To make up for the whopping $34.94 I made from the transformers, I spent the rest of the day scrapping things that had some nice circuit boards in them.

By the end of the day I was well pleased with the results.

I found a base unit for the Engenius phones I scrap and wanted to post some pics. It's got a nice board but there are a few metal screens and 1 transformer I remove.

    EDW-48-2 Console

This is an old console from an NEC phone system. Not much of a board unless you like led's. There's 108 of them on the other side.

ShoreTel 230 and Mitel 480 IP phones

I picked up a a small load of desktops this week and 5 of them were i5's. Woo Hoo! There was also 3 boxes of assorted cables and a few bad IP phones. I wanted to show the difference in the older Shoretel phones and the newer ShoreTel/Mitel phones. Mitel bought ShoreTel at some point hence the Mitel logo. The 230 phone has much nicer boards with a lot of of gold plating while the 480 phone has 1 decent board, 1 low grade and a useless piece of mylar. New technology is getting much smaller and less valuable. Thank goodness there's still a lot of the old stuff out there.

I picked this defective recording device the other day. I cut the cord and was about to throw it away but decided to check out what was inside. Turns out they have a nice little board inside. Lots of gold plating.

The way you lay out your pictures with the components in reference to their location in the case is greatly appreciated. It gives a unique look to your thread and for those of us with little ewaste experience a great reference point. Keep them coming.

T-CONN board. It sends the video signal to the screen its self. If it is a cracked screen tv and you can demo ti works then sell the board on ebay. Mike

Here's another phone I've never seen before. I was hoping the contacts on the bottom right board would have gold contacts but it didn't.

I got this TV the day after the Raiders lost by one point. I plugged it in and it powered up with a broken screen. There was also rectangle the size of a cell phone where the screen was cracked. It could be unrelated, but I think someone was upset that their team lost. Definitely going to sell this board and the other internal boards. I've taken apart about 70 or so TV's but have never seen that many gold cap chips on a single T-Con board.

I was referring to selling the T-Conn board as a working board, worth far more than scrap value. Other wise check your buyer for his prices for scrap value. 73, Mike

    Valcom V-9970 Page Control

I was working on a paging system that was down last week. The problem was a bad page control. I installed a new one and scrapped the old one. After removing 2 transformers, a big cap and a heat sink I had a nice midgrade board.

I picked up 2 old computers today from a family member who bought them years ago.
The first 2 pics are of an Apple llc keyboard with a floppy drive on the side and a Gorilla monitor.
The other pics are of an Apple lle computer, monitor and printer.
When I have some time I want to clean them up and see if they still work.

I think I sill have some old "floppy disks" for that computer. One that was popular with teachers was "Oregon Trail." It is assumed the computer is considered vintage and valuable to collectors.

There's a cabinet full of the old 5 1/4 disks. I used to play games on one of these back in 81 when I was in high school.

I was out in the garage this morning breaking a few things down and remembered the Apple lle I brought home last week. I want to clean it up and see if it still works. I was hoping I would find a cool processor when the cover was removed but that was not the case. It did have some nice cards inside but there was also a rather large mouse nest inside made from insulation, string and bits of snake skin. Yes snake skin. This is why I don't bring anything inside the house.

Just finished my third night of viewing this whole thread. I've never done telecom stuff before, only computers. It has been a very informative read. Thanks for all the effort it must have taken to post so much. And thanks for your willingness to share the knowledge. Mike

I picked up an old Apple laptop and accompanying docking station, along with a matching Apple printer and 2 brand new toner cartridges for it. It all works. I tested it myself, and the previous owner told me. I might post pictures of the equipment if I can remember to. I love the old Apple stuff. Makes this business worth it by itself.

Did they pee inside the machine (very corrosive)?
