Thanks. Two years ago the company I worked for bought me an iphone 4S and they let me keep it when they laid me off. It takes good pictures but the lighting has to be good. I wish it would show the gold plating on circuit boards better but that's probably a lighting issue also.
I've been reading a lot about tantalum capacitors and because I see many on the older telecom boards, I removed a few today. Now my math is not very good but 13 of these caps weigh 0.1 oz.
So according to my math it would take 2240 to make a pound and this particular type sells for $25 a pound. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also it took me 30 seconds to remove them so at that rate how long would it take me to get a pound.

if my math is correct 2240 divided by 13= 172.307692 now that's 30 seconds so multiply that by 2 to get a minute = 344.615385 minutes divided by 60 to get it into hours =5.74358974 hours so about 5 hours 45 minutes if my math is correct

My Wife has been stuck in the house for the last 7 days because of the snow and ice and has a little bit of cabin fever. To pass the time she has processed all of the telephones and other things in the garage. Before I left to go to work this morning I told her she could scrap the 14 stainless steel boxes that came out some NEC 2400 PBX's. I thought they were power supplies but they weren't. She called me at work today all excited about what she found inside. Turns out they were CPU's. Here's what she found.

As for the card reader, I'd assume that it would go as some type of telecom. But, it'll depend on the buyer a lot!
I've been in the garage today sorting and processing more telecom boards from an NEC 2400. All of the cards were bad so they got scrapped. I ended up with a total of 63 boards and 1.6 pounds of eproms. Days like this make up for other days where hours are spent taking phones apart for 1 small mid-grade board.

So what is the difference between that and an IC chip? They look the same to me?
Eproms are ceramic and if you remove the sticker you will be able to see the chip inside through a small window. If you will look on page 3 of this thread I have a pic of some eproms with the stickers removed.Quote:

I brought this home the other day. I didn't really want it but it was full of patch panels and hubs and there was a big battery backup also. Not switches but hubs so that kind of dates it. It was made by the Great Lakes Cabinet Company and is in very good condition. I figure it was made in the early to mid 90's. I'm going to put it on CL and see if I get a bite.

Quick question for ya... In the very first post, what do you guys normally get for phone boards like that?? I think I got screwed last time I sold mine
First card .10 cents a pound
Second card $1.50-$1.70 a pound. Maybe $1.20
Third card $3.40 a pound.
You really need to shop around.
I might be interested in purchasing thosae tensator board with ram for more than scrap. ANy model numbers on them?
