I would scrap everything except for the monitors if they work and you can find a market. It looks like the desktops are all Core2Duo, if they are they would get scrapped right away in our shop.

Mike, do you still have a market for Core2duo machines? We have tried clist, letgo etc but couldn't find a good level of effort and price to make it worthwhile.

The monitors will be tested and sold but the Core2duo desktops are getting the ax. No hard drives, no ram, no time.

The back half of the pile came from the company I sell my batteries to. You can't really see it but there is an old IBM server, 3 IBM towers, a dot matrix printer, 7 dummie terminals and a big flat printer that looks like an old typewriter. I removed the cover from this printer and found some nice boards. I'll post some pics of these later. This stuff has been on 2 pallets for years in a nasty warehouse by the dock doors where they receive and stack their old batteries.

Mike, you know how I feel about ebay......it ain't gonna happen. Don't think I'm scrapping everything because I'm not. I just sold a nice gaming pc yesterday and I have some i3 and i5 processors and ram that I'm going to sell also.

jm u da man.......I think I only said something because of my level of frustration........For some reason the price of those monitors on surplus market has sky rocketed......I used to get them cheap and turn nice profits but lately price has nearly tripled at local surplus warehouse

I was glad to see the monitors weren't the square kind.......no one want's them anymore. About 5 years ago the company I worked for moved and they tossed about 6 working okidata dot matrix printers in the dumpster. They had asked me if I wanted them but I declined not knowing what they were worth.

One of the more interesting things I scrapped yesterday was a Centronics printer. It almost got scrapped as is but when I picked it up the plastic cover fell apart and I could see circuit boards inside. I did manage to find a label.

    This thing was nasty!

I got a brush and some soapy water to see what was underneath the funk. The boards were corroded in several places. I'm not sure if that was due to the black crap from the tow motors or being close to pallets of old lead acid batteries.

The chips with the yellow stickers are eproms.

    This board had something interesting.

My first with gold legs, I just wish I could find more.

    Comdial Executech

A friend gave me this small phone system the other day and this is what was inside.

A lot of smaller systems have only 1 board inside.

The first thing I noticed was the 1 big transformer, 31 small transformers and 3 big capacitors.

I could have sold it as is but I decided to remove them. It took about a minute to remove the transformers, capacitors and the battery, increasing the value of the board. Total breakdown time was close to 5 minutes and I ended up with a 1 pound 10 oz board and about 3 pounds of transformers, including the big one shown in the 2nd pic.

    Polycom SoundStation

I was going to sell this but it got knocked off a stack of boxes and was broken. It's an older Polycom but if working properly they sound great.

The board had 2 metal shields soldered on but they were easily removed.

About 2 months ago I gave my neighbor a PC I received in a scrap load. It didn't have a hard drive but he had one and it's been working for him. He offered me 50 dollars and I said sure.

I was at his house today looking at some cards he had and talking about the different components on them and he asked if I would be willing to take the cards as a partial payment for the money he owed me. Sure will, and we loaded them up.

I just got through going through them and sorting them and this is what I got.

Starting on the left with the first white bin and going clockwise are gold finger cards, gold finger cards with the gold fingers removed, CD ROM boards, 11 small socket mother boards, 21 laptop mother boards, 1 large socket mother board, 1 board from a data switch, and 6 thin client mother boards. In the center I have about 1 pound of ram, 1 slot processor and a mix of large and small processors. None of them were ceramic.

I would also like to add that the cards came in the white bins and the white bins do not belong to me. I plan on transferring the cards to cardboard boxes and the white bins will be rinsed out and returned to their rightful owner.

Yeah, I think so too. Some of the cards were in an old cat **** box. I kept the cards and threw the box away.

    Nortel BCM 50e & Expansion

I'm always amazed at what people throw away. I brought home 2 big boxes of used Cat5 & Cat6 patch cords this week. There were about 20 new 25 footers in there also and I kept them but there's still about 100 pounds of used ones.
I also found this phone system in one of the boxes.

Nothing spectacular about the boards except they are very easy to remove.

    Laptop CD Drives

I never thought about these things having circuit boards until I saw a post about them a few weeks ago. I don't get a lot of laptops and their CD drives have been going in the shred pile.

I had 7 and decided to take them apart and found that each one had 2 boards. The 7 on the left have the SATA connector that connects to the mother board and if you dig a little deeper you'll find another board, shown on the right. Laptop memory at the bottom for size.

I know some of you are rolling your eyes and saying yeah, yeah, basic ewaste knowledge, but this was new info to me and thought I would share.

I guess I should read the archives more.
