I was looking at some of the blades that were in the HP Proliant BL680c G5 server I brought home a few weeks ago.

There were 3 blades like the one below where the hard drives were. Each one had 8 sticks of 4 gig ram.

This is the main blade with all the processors. It had 16 sticks of ram at 2 gigs each.

SCORE!!! I get those boards a lot.. but they are always stripped of chips and RAM.
Check those CPU's Jimi. Depending on their speed.. they have nice resale value!
    RAM too!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

    I will check it out!

I wouldn't mind getting more servers like this one. I'll just have to remember how heavy it was and make sure I have help.

Trying to take advantage of three days off to get the last few pickups under control. All of the servers, battery backups and pc's in the garage were broken down and 1400 pounds of shred hauled off. 5 boxes of assorted stuff was sorted...mostly different kinds of cables and a smaller box of eproms for telecom board upgrades. I still have about 30 pc's sitting in the driveway covered with a tarp. They will just have to sit outside until I can get to them.

Eproms for telecom station card upgrade.

I found more cd drives and hard drives. I wish the boards were still as big as these.

The optical and hard drive boards are making it difficult for me to justify breaking them down, thats even with my need to keep my hands busy while watching tv. Mike

I talk a little about TA caps on the third post on page 5 of this thread. I leave them on the boards but I do remove eproms. It doesn't take take long to get a pound of eproms. I'm still wondering how much time it takes to get a pound of TA caps.

I'm with you on that one. When the optical boards arn't worth my time then leaving TA caps is likely to stay on the boards. Also I don't get alot of boards that are heavily populated with them. To those who do I trust it's becaise it's best for you and your business. Mike

    Northern Telecom M8X24 DS

This system was removed from a business after a lightning storm.

    Power board

    The 2 larger boards are 11' X 15"

These system have some good boards in them but there is a lot of heavy plastic also.

I found an Avaya Lucent ACS phone system and wanted to share.
There's 1 power board inside and another large main board that controls the digital phones and analog trunks.
On the main board I remove the plastic RJ45 plugs and a few transformers and I then get gold finger board pricing for them.

This system is real easy to test, especially if you have the phones that go with it.

I believe he was talking about the tantalum caps.

If I could get 100 bucks a pound for them I might consider removing them from boards.

    Aluminum/Copper Heat Sinks

This is how I process the ones I get.

Some of the heat sinks below I thought might go as #1 but after a closer look realized the copper fins are attached to the solid base with solder or however it is they do that. Not sure.

I use a hammer and a big screwdriver to knock off any copper plates that might be on the bottom. The copper goes in my #2 bin and what's left are aluminum fins with copper tubes running through them.

The pic below is about 40 pounds of #2 copper and it took about an hour and a half to do this.

Here is the bin with whats left. Aluminum fins and copper tubes. I've sold these before and got a decent price but I can"t remember what it was.

I'll update this with prices after I sell them.
