boards in dash cluster?

Iv searched for any info on this and got nothing. The search function on the app doesnt seem to be all that great and i dont have access to a comp right now.

Anyways, got a bunch of scrap cars and wanna know what grade the boards in the dash cluster are. All green and looks like a "city" (read that somewhere) i know its probs not a low grade, just not sure if its med or high grade. Also any other boards in cars worth takin out? In the CD changer, heater control module, overhead temp gauge, etc. I know the PCM, ECU etc would be high grade. Most are easy to remove also.

Sorry if this has been covered, but i couldnt find anything.

Great question

I remove the clusters and toss them into the back seat when we remove the dash boards for the copper wire and aluminum, some times copper , heat exchangers for the heat and AC

I did have a stack of green boards from ECM's we took apart,
But never did find a way to grade them or a buyer for them
so one day I was tired of looking at them, they got tossed in the back seat of a car going to the squisher

Hate to think I am getting 8 cents a pound if I could be getting more

Of course all ECM's are checked against RAS data base for core value before hitting the back seat

Not sure of what you call an ECM but I found a couple of alum. computers out of GM vehicles and took them apart.

Im sure they have to be worth more than shred price. Iv got a drawer of my toolbox full of random boards out of cars. They are most of the time stupid easy to remove and come apart real fast.

I know theres a guy that buys them fron our shop, pays up to 30 bucks for certain ones. He buys them complete. I guess to reman them

They have to be worth more...I get .20/lb for LOW grade...ie out of radios ect. Either way if you have them and access to at least a low grade board buyer..then sure sell them that way...or you coukd just take a pic or 2 and send those over to ewasted and ask him what they classify it as...you might be surprised and then you have more info than you had for the time it take for 3-4 good pics and an email.

Where are yoy getting that for low grade? Iv read that alot of people get less than shred for them.

My local yard pays about .18 for low grade, they were around .20 when gold was higher.

Last load I did about month ago was .20/lb for low grade in atlanta, ga. Also got $1.10/lb for li-ion batteries...

being a mechanic I see several I would grade some 80s cars as low grade and some from the newer cars are complete computer models with lcd displays so they could go from low grade on up. if they work you may be able to resell for good money if you get some out of newer gm trucks and suvs they are valuable to rebuilders I know the gm dealership charges me a $600 core on some
