    Plotter

    Hi all
Has anyone here ever scrapped a plotter? I may pick one up next week.

    also a dot matrix printer.

and yes, I did multiple searches here and came up with nothing.

I'll be posting some photos next week, when I have more time, of the last printer I scrapped, it was an Oce mainframe printer, 1200 lbs of steel, 15 circuit boards, 2 486 amd cpus, and a backplane board that feels like it is made out of steel.

    Thanks again

I have done a few. For the ones I did, they were pretty much large ink jet printers. Boards were probably a little better grade but a little larger in size.

Sell the plotter. Post it on CL for a couple weeks. Ask 50 or a 100 for it. There is a market for those for certain people. They are adapted for other things.

See, even I can help others make money sometimes. I only know this because I'd kill for a plotter for a project I want to do.

I've done one, it was an old HP. The one I had was almost all aluminum, lots of extrusion and sheet, a few nice boards, and a couple small motors. It was much better than I thought it'd be. The best route would be to try and sell it outright, but if that doesn't work out the scrap isn't bad
