    Cool Find At Thrift Store

I was at a large thrift store today looking for some mini blinds for my door, and saw that there was an old computer over in the electronics section for $10. It said "486" on the back, and had several of what I thought were just dialup modem cards in it. Opened it up when I got back, and it was actually an old voicemail system from Inter-Tel. It had never been used. The inside was immaculate. I got the largest ISA cards out of it that I have ever had (they barely fit into the case). No resale value of the boards, except maybe the CPU board, but it was a surprising find nonetheless.

Every component has listings on ebay, but no sales even down to $10.

Can you confirm thats its a 486, i dont see a soketed ceramic cpu there, looks like an 8086 board to me, it might be listed wrong. If so it make a big difference in value and in attention it will get.

I think the board your calling the cpu board is actually the video card. And if thats the case that motherboard is definitely an 8086 or 8087, ics on the motherboard bottom right corner with the white lables or the long one thats above them it should say 8086 or 8087 on them.

If you are going to scrap it there is a red switch on the top center of the main board. If you pull that off i believe there are little gold balls in side.

Yes, I popped the CPU off (has a black heatsink on it in the picture), and it's a 486.Here is a listing for that card on ebay:

i found a similar one that sold for $150 , so it looks like you should do well on it, i would try it at $150 with free shipping, might get some action there

Yeah, I think it should do alright. Too bad I'm keeping the 486 chip haha!

This is the processor on the main board (at least this was labeled as the CPU on the diagram inside the case) -
