Floppy Disk Drive Question Sizes 2.88Mb and 2.4Mb

I have been working around and on computers for a while... First new computer we bought was a 286 with a 20Mb HDD. That was to replace the 8088 system for accounting.

I just came across 3 floppy drive sizes I have never seen or heard off??
    1) 5-1/4 drive 2.4 Mb
    2) 3-1/2 drive 2.88Mb

Anybody know anything about these?? They power on but what disk to test with?

Yes, those are still the standard 1.2 Mb and 1.44 Mb size. However the size you see is the disk compressed.

A few companies made 2.88MB 3.5" drives (IBM for one and they had the 2.88 mb capacity on the front of the eject button). I never see a quad density 5.25" drive have a picture?
