Looking for a e-scrap buyer in Georgia....with no luck so far

    Good morning Scrap Metal Forum!

I've been looking for an e-scrap buyer in Georgia for quite some time, more specifically in the Atlanta area. I've been given the run around by everyone I contact.

The first company sent me a price list (via email) and when I showed up with my first load of e-scrap they told me they don't buy e-scrap...so I mentioned the email and they say 'if you can tell us who told you we buy e-scrap, then we might buy your e-scrap...' Of course, I couldn't remember the name...and was pissed that I drove so far for nothing...

The second company (the same company I take my scrap metal to) tells me that they will only accept it if I have a minimum of 5000 lbs of e-scrap per item...

I've been searching Google, making phone calls, sending out emails, and at this point I still have had no luck.

Does anyone out there know a place that is willing to buy e-scrap in or around Atlanta, Georgia?

Worst case, I can go back to selling them on Ebay, but it would be so much easier to just take it to a physical location.

    Thank you for your time!

    Josh

Your best bet is the buyers section here, great people.. Some even send you prepaid shipping labels. just pack it up weight it get a label and ship. no money out of pocket..

That sounds good, I'll check it out. I've stayed away due to not wanting to pay for shipping. But if they pay for shipping, that'd be great.

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

they prepay the shipping, and deduct it from what they pay you. but its still better than most local buyers, especially if there are none

I seem to get the runaround as well, the biggest reason is because the buyers prefer to do business with regular suppliers and not someone who is cutting their grass, if you understand what I mean. My attitude is that the sun shines for everybody..

Agreed! I'm doing it as a part-time gig on the side. So, I have a few loads to take per week...but I'm not hauling 5000 lbs at a clip, lol.

Sounds like an opportunity for someone in Atlanta to become a consolidator.

Shipping to a buyer on here with a prepaid shipping is good for high end boards (mother boards, finger boards, ram, prosessors, ect) but some things are not worth shipping (hard drives, power suplies, low grade boards, ect). A city as big as atlanta should have an e-waste buyer. Maybe you could post an add on cl that you are looking for an e-waste buyer, if there is one in your area they will contact you.

Thanks for all the information guys. I began using Cash for Computer Scrap for my high end boards, ram, etc. I'm looking for an atlanta-based e-scrap buyer, but so far everyone only wants to deal with large companies and not individuals.

I'm currently looking for a buyer of UPS/ACP backup batteries, no luck yet. I will try your idea happyscrapper with posting a Craigslist AD.

    Thanks everyone!

The batteries go to your local yard just like car batteries. I break down the ups's, they have wire, brass, CBM(copper bearing material).

I have shipped power supplies and mid grade boards along with my hight grade boards. It made sense to me because it allowed me to have enough product to ship an entire pallet which reduced my shipping costs by half(I live in a very out of the way place).

If the buyers in your don't want to deal with "small" sellers look into being a buyer yourself(this was suggested earlier by others). I, like many on the forum, buy ewaste from other scrapers. Many of my "pickers"I met while at the scrap yard and then asked them to pass on my card to others. This has taken me from very small to just small time.

    Best of luck, Mike.

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked

Mike thanks so much! I'll ask the yard I go to if they take them, because they do accept certain things from individuals.

That's really a great idea about going into buying scrap...I'll have to toss that idea around a bit in my head.

    Thank you!
    Josh

Doesn't Shedog have a company there? Ecycle Atlanta or something? Seems like there have to be decent buyers in a city that size...
