    Paying for CRTs

I don't think this question has been asked on this forum.

I was thinking of taking this route, like some of you folks do, paying for CRTs. But I have a question for those of you guys and gals who pay for monitors and TVs. Do you deduct if the cords are cut off of them? I was thinking of maybe a 10 or 20 cent deduction to prevent this from happening if/when I should get repeat calls. Does that make sense?

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Actually, this is a question posed to the folks who pay for CRTs. In New York State it is almost pointless to charge for CRTs since mandated free drop-off locations are available all over the state.

Too bad you don't live closer because you could get $12.00 per monitor. Charge the customer 10 bucks, and then sell them to me for $2.00.

So, billygoat, are you saying that you will pay $2.00 each for crt's? If that's the case could you please post or PM me with your contact info. Thanks.

I reluctantly take them for free. How are you making anything paying $2 each?

It's a long drive from Rochester, NY to NE Illinois.

Still would like some input, if possible.

That's the amount I've seen others post about how much they pay. Because scrap prices here tend to be lower than what I've seen others post, I might have to go with $1.50 per. I can make about 3 to 5 bucks per, depending on how much copper I get out of them.

When it comes to shipping and the labor or machinery to unload em it's just not worth shipping them anywhere (LOL).........As soon as someone is ready to send em I'll be waiting (probably for a long time)

No, I don't take those unless you ship them for free and pay an hourly rate for my labor along with disposal fees.

Anyone else have any input on whether or not to deduct for cut-off cords on CRT monitors and TVs?

I don't pay for tv/monitors, I have a lot of people trying to give me them for hauling off. Not enough value in them to pay anything.

    lets just summarize then:

NY takes in monitors for free, which is a great service and i wish they offered it here in GA. I do drop off at Goodwill, which is just as good, and currently they will take them with all the cords cut. The basic notion, then, is what most people on here are getting at: it isnt very cost effective (time-wise) to strip monitors as the payoff is low. HOWEVER...there are people that have extra time and willing to make the approx $4 per monitor if they can work them quickly. But moving around big heavy monitors and tv's is a burden not many of us relish. I take them only if i have to when getting other stuff that pays.
