Processors equals about $40,000 to $60,000

THAT IVE THROWN AWAY OVER THE YEARS!!! ... Sorry had to post this little tidbit. Figure I started in 2000 and we use to dispose of 386 and 486 like water! And through my career so many computers hit the trash! As I become addicted to opening up older PCs now I just can't seem to understand why I didn't know what I know now then. LOL



On bright note my new warehouse space is in a old linen building that they've given us full reins on all the dead computers, printers and so on on all 4 of the floors in the building. And there's a lot. I think I am.now addicted.

That's not including gold fingers, ram and so on! LOL

What ever right water under the bridge now. Do find it very exciting now to find old 486 processors. Never thought I'd say that ever.

I think I know the feeling. Sad to think of all the nice 386 & 486 I threw out in the past.

In 2000 gold was under $400 an ounce so you would get maybe 1/4 of what those CPUs go for now (few people would have saved them for 10 years). If we all had a time machine we would have been better off investing in Apple Inc in 2000 then scrounging for 386/486 CPU's.

Yeh a time machine would be great..

I know the feeling . The hundreds of Apple 2, 2C 2E C64, VIC 20 . Not to mention the IBM XT, 80286, 80386 system and quite a few of the old system 28's MINI's and such. I wanna forget about that CRAY!!!
I changed trades after 24 years as a master finishing wood butcher and went to into computers in the early 80's
Now I hate computers and do what I do best as a builder. Slow but sure!!!
I forgot more than MOST of these ..........

You should have realized what they were at the time..doesnt take much space..just sayin..ive taken apart over 1000 n wont sell for a bit..for u guys to throw away is stupid..u know what u got, when u know what u have

At the time, old computers were a real problem to get rid of. The Bulk!! No scrap value!!

Sounds like someone has been saving processors. For how long? Like my Dad when he was a kid with Mickey Mantel baseball cards in his bike spokes. They didn't know.

And if everybody did know those baseball cards would be worthless because of the supply.

Don't feel bad, I collect CPUs and have a nice collection but I could have picked up duplicates years ago for nothing (PPros for example) but didn't because I had a copy.

When I first started scrapping my e-waste buyer paid me the same for mobo,ram,gold finger boards and the I left the prossors on the mobo's because I didn't know any better but thanks to this forum I've learned soooooo much. THANKS TO EVERYBODY ON HERE FOR A GREAT EDUCATION.
