which of these are gold connectors?

Hello all, I searched for what is considered gold connectors but wasn't completely certain. If anyone could let me know which of these qualifies, it would be awesome. Thanks.

#6 came from a CRT cord. And I would be cutting off the ribbon if each of those are considered gold connectors.

Do the jacks that telephone cords get plugged into get considered as a gold connector?

Generally yes, they are a copper base with a layer of tin then gold plating on the pin's.

Is it safe to say then that the ends from wires such as cat5 and ends that plug in the switches and routers are also gold bearing ends?

Why would the end of a CAT 5 cable need to be gold bearing when they sell wire for you to make your own cables? Or am I thinking of something else? Are the homemade CAT5 cables different from the store bought ones?

The cable is not gold plated the end connector is.

All connectors either store bought or made at home from cable+connectors are all gold plated.

They use gold in connectors because it does not tarnish or corrode. If cable ends corroded then the internet would be a crap shoot at best.

    Now think about your question.

When you attach the wire to the connector what is making contact onto the other connector the cable plugs into?

Is it the wire or is it the connection inside the connector that the wire connects too?

The wire is connected to the connector by force, it pushes aside the surface layer of copper oxide & physically connects to the copper wire.

Its sorta basicly 'welded' itself to the connector (actually its called wringing Two peices of metal come into such close contact that they start exchanging atoms.

From then on, its the gold surface layer that connects (touches) & the electrons go thru this easy like as there is no oxidation on the surface.

But do you sell the "connector" whole by; the pound, or do you break the ends down for the tiny pins ( sorry, question mark key doesn't seem to be working )

    Gold always plugs into gold.

A lot of us sell them by the pound but Joebob and a few others smash the plastic off and pick the pins out of the mess. That's where a ball mill would come in handy.

You need to be careful on running these in a ball mill you have a chance of wearing the gold plating off of the connector pin's.
