    Possible Lead With Computer Shop

So i saw an ad on cl the other day and sent the guy an email just to see what he had, turns out about 120 complete laptops and 100 missing various items. Has some boards and many heatsinks. Just to let everyone know e scrap is new and confusing to me in many ways like i am sure it was for so many others. We have not spoke prices yet and i would love to get feedback from buyers and sellers alike on here. I have done alot of reading but how much should i offer, definantly have some cash but i don't want to go backwards. So what do you pay per laptop, i know its based on lbs when selling but where would i start. He seems fair and wants stuff gone.

Also got a great friend who runs a local yard, been trying to talk him into buying computers at shred price and i will double it when i buy them. From what i see that would be a deal right?

Anyways this laptop thing has been in my head the last two days and i want to make money like everyone else. So anyones input would be appreciated GREATLY!!!!! Thanks

Yeah not much scrap value in the laptops..........Be very careful what you get into and stick to your guns...........Don't over pay or you'll lose your ass.....I hardly even fool with laptops unless they are just thrown in with the towers I ussually buy

I also wouldn't pay more than $1-1.50 per laptop. I hate scrapping them, too much work for little return. Even if I sell them whole, there is not much money in them.

how in the hell is there not much money in a laptop.............. ok most laptops weigh between 5-12 lbs depending on age. i buy at .60 cents a pound complete and 37 cents incomplete. so im paying between $3-$7.02 for complete laptops and incomplete laptops at 1.85-4.44

I double my money just scrapping them whole. If i take around and try to sell to store owners i expect 25-75$ per broken complete unit.....

So to say a laptop isnt worth crap is like saying a desktop tower is only worth the steel.

Well I have been going through my laptops and I figured it out this way. My last shipping price to ewasted was a 60 pound box for $24.25. it cost me .40 a pound to ship to him. His prices on laptops are $1.10/lb so I figure I will make $.70/lb. Thats .10 cents more than you are wanting to sell them for mike and all you have to do is drop a box off at FedEx. You are closer to him than I am in Alabama so if anything your prices will be the same or less. And I think I'm going to shoot for the next box to him in the 75 pound range and see what the shipping per pound breaks down to them.

My last was about 90 pounds and still at 60 cents a pound. That is from Florida.

If I had the space I would go for the per pound laptop thing. I just shipped 2 gaylords (from somewhere else as a side job)up there and it came out to about 27 cents per pound. Of course the gaylords were about 80 pounds each, but still much better considering there was over 900 pounds of material. Probably came out to about 35 cents a pound for the material. bit there is still the cost of the gaylords as well. I did not pay for them so not sure what they cost.

Last time I talked to Ewasted he said he was developing truck shipping lanes to the south and possibly getting it down to $.10 lb. Might be a good thing for us Fl boys to get together and fill a few gaylords. I want to do as much as I can with Mario he is the best I've dealt with so far. Used gaylords are going for about $10 in south Orlando.
