    lead weights

At a yardsale last Saturday I bought five 3lb divers weights. I might get $2 a pound on ebay but then pay the fees and do the shipping.

Or, i could just take in to my recycler and see what he pays.

anybody sell lead recently? what did they pay?

buy the way, I asked how much and he said "$1 I don't want to carry them back into the garage"

fine with me at yard sales I am dollardan

I wish lead was more profitable..... Any idea how much lead is used in boats a ballast to lvl them out lol?
Or a lead counter weight of a sail boat!
I think I got about 500lbs just kicking around the yard....
If it's not bolted down it's mine, if it's bolted down and I can pry it up.....it's still mine....

I thought there was good money to be made by selling it to guys who cast their own bullets. Pretty sure there's a thread or two on SMF about that, and was pretty sure that it is well over a buck a pound...

The biggest reason I haven't sold any as I would rather sell to a sporting hunter or fisherman.

If they are diving weights, why not sell them to a scuba diver?

Have heard those counter weights can range from 40 lbs up to a thousand pounds depending on the size of the boat. If its too large to remove in one lump, use a chain saw, ruins the chain but it works, wear safety glasses.

Wheel weights could be lead or zinc the easiest way to separate is to melt everything, the zinc floats on top of the molten lead and cools down a lot faster than the lead.

You can skim off the zinc then remelt and cast it into ingots. Zinc is worth a lot more than lead.
