Anybody Know of any decent paying Ewaste buyers in the Houston area????

I am looking for a decent board buyer in the houston area I have quite a bit of material. I usually use Ewasted but I wanna find something local if possible. 1 pile of stuff alone I’m looking at right now is over 200 small sockets mobos and at least a 100 large socket mobos. Any local buyer leads would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I have been dealing with buyers here on the forum for several years and am happy with the performance. I live in coastal North Carolina and all my buyers are several states away.

Check with your potential buyer on best way to arrange shipping. In my case I progressed to the point of shipping pallets of materials. Before that I shipped boxes in 70 lbs total weight boxes to avoid the extra charge for overweight boxes. Again your buyer will be best at advising you what will work best for you.

Yes I realize that I could ship but it would be so much easier to
Just fill my truck and trailer up and sell it instead of worrying about if my pallets are gonna hood up for the trip with a freight company

I shipped and received 1,000s of pallets across the US and Canada. Never has a skid broken to the point of loosing material. 300 mother boards is lite as a feather. Always use blue/red skids if you are worried, basically heavy duty strength wood.

After a few misadventures, one with a guy who poses as a buyer on here occasionally, but who I haven't seen much other than a recent peep in... I managed to find a good buyer here in Dallas. FMI Recycling in Oak Cliff.

HLH&R in Waxahatchie did me right, but it's a lot further for me, and they didn't answer a couple of emails I sent, so I am not sure if they're still in business.

Keep looking, I'm sure there has to be someone in Houston!

Similar threads list at the bottom of this thread came up with this: https://www.scrapmetalforum.com/gene...ston-area.html

There's a company listed there. I have no affiliation or information about them, but maybe worth a call

I have tried to find local buyers for ewaste, as I was originally very nervous about the process/logistics of pallet shipping. But the buyers on here took care of all of that for me so all I had to do was give a weight and load the pallet and everything else was coordinated for me and pretty cheap, plus the pallet cost nothing out of pocket to ship, it was just subtracted from my payout.

Everywhere local I have found was not anywhere close to the prices of buyers on here. I have 1 place about 20 mins away, and one place about an hour away, that buy ewaste, and both have prices that are probably 20%-40% of the price of buyers on here. (for example fingercards may be $4/lb to a buyer on here and maybe $1/lb to one of the local places). So, even with the cost of shipping factored in, it is usually worth it to ship it.

Obviously local would be preffered, but at least by me, the money just doesnt work out locally, I have to ship it

I am a local buyer in Knoxville, TN........no decent buyers here that I have found.......Here is how I calculate what I can pay for boards (this is what drives the price down)......I take my buyers price and subtract shipping cost then after that number is figured I knock off 20-25% for myself........This drives things like small socket motherboards down to around $1/LB.........It is what it is.........I'm taking all the risk and the seller walks away with cash

Saying there is no decent buyers here is a pretty combative statement (if you are referring to "here" being on this form.... if you mean "here" local to you, disregard this statement)..... but my thoughts are, Why would someone sell local for $1 when they can mail for $4/lb (minus $0.50/lb for shipping, so more like $3.50/lb). If you dont get a lot of stuff, then yes shipping inst worth it. But at pallet level amounts, which it sounds like this guy has, it is worth it (in my opinion) to ship it. NOW if he thinks the time/effort to palletize and get a buyer to organize shipping is worth more that the additional money, that is 100% fine. There is plenty of things that I could do that would make more money.... but sometime I dont feel like it and just take less to rid myself of the stuff. And that is totally OK.

Back to the original question.... I dont know of a buyer local to the houston area. Sorry.

    Ok, that makes more sense.

I just meant "motherboards" in general.... by me only 2 places within an hour of me take motherboards, and they both only have 1 category, "motherboards", they do not differentiate.
So selling local by me could mean missing out on the small/large socket mobo price difference, same with server motherboards.

The closest place that separates by categories like that is about 3 hours away, and still are about 50% the price of buyers on here, last I had checked.

It all depends where you live and what the market is like I guess. Im sure there is plenty of people that live close to somewhere where they dont have to ship AND get good prices. That just isnt the case for a lot of people. Houston may be different though, we'll find out if someone chimes in here saying that is the case

< shrugs > It's all a numbers game and that varies from place to place. Prices are up, but i generally figure about 1.10 $/lb for small socket mobos. Shipping costs run somewhere around .60/lb so that leaves a net profit of .50/lb. I ship mixed loads, but there's generally not any more than 40 lbs of small sockets in there. That's about twenty bucks.

I could sell that same 40 lbs at the nearest yard for .30/lb for a net profit of twelve dollars.

That's a difference of about 8.00 dollars but you have to earn that money. It's generally about half a day's work to box everything up and arrange for shipping. Then there's the cost of shipping supplies and so on. It's all time and money.

I can see why a general scrapper wouldn't want to put the time & effort into ewaste. I can see why most yards wouldn't be that interested in it either. Their interests are primarily in moving large volumes of metal.

Ewaste is kind of a niche thing in the world of scrapping ?

I think the thing is that people go on the internet, see posted prices shipped to a buyer, and then complain that they're not getting the same prices at their local yard.

JMHO .... but i'm thankful that we have the buyers here. I not doing a lot of volume, but i try to support their businesses because they work so hard at providing excellence in service & pricing.

hills I dont know how much material your sending, must be small weight because $0.50 lb is way to much if your shipping pallet size shipments

If someone is local anymore I'm transparent about the pricing......There are two major buyers that post prices for all to see........I give them the breakdown and tell them what I expect to make........I give them information and then they can decide to ship it or sell to me.........For the most part I don't buy many lose boards anyways........Most of what I get is dismantling work..........I can profit far greater off this material but does takes much more labor/time/etc..........Either way if anyone needs assistance in or around Knoxville, Tn I'm here to help........And yes to answer anyone's question I have used multiple buyers on this forum and have not had an issue yet........possibly a few minor hiccups but always got paid
