Even though I use Ewasted primarily I have to ask if you have tried PartTimeScrapper? How about Govern for assistance with shipping estimates.

I sell used items on ebay and frankly I don't like it when the buyer is from west of the Mississippi but Az is even worse.

I'm not doing a large volume of scraping and save up until I can build a pallet. From here it costs about $169+- for about a 1000 lb. gross pallet. I encourage you to keep working on ways to make a the shipping work better for you. If you think it would be helpful pm me and we can talk. 73, Mike

It's not 24 miles, or even 240 miles, but thanks for playing.
I would LOVE to know who buys those type of boards above "near junk" grade - I sure as [ expletive ] can't find anyone ( within reasonable shipping distance ) .
What am I talking about? Basically, that you're getting screwed because you haven't figured this out and or aren't willing to drive the 24 miles (your own numbers) to FedEx or UPS. As far as playing, I do it quite well (many of the buyers could vouch for that).

I have no clue why I'm doing this, must be feeling like a nice guy tonight.

Before we start talking about actual shipping, you need to understand a few things. First, you as an individual, small volume shipper, are not going to get the best rates. With FedEx, you have 2 options the way I see it. First is to get a prepaid shipping label from one of the buyers. Their volume gets them some pretty nice discounts that are passed along to you. I would guess that FedEx shipping for you to Mario would be about $0.30 to $0.35 a pound. Yes you will probably have to drive the 24 miles to get that rate. The other option is to get a business account with FedEx. It is not difficult. Ship once and put a company name in for yourself. A rep will call a few days later and ask you questions about your shipping volume and frequency. If you tell him you are shipping at least once a month, they will sent you up with an account and discounts. Again, to get the best rates, you need to drive the 24 miles.
The next step up is LTL / pallet shipping. From your other post / video, I am assuming that your zip is 15801 as shown in the video. In the past, if I shipped freight thru Mario, he used YRC. A quick search indicates a terminal near you. Shipping this way should be considerably less than FedEx. I have shipped thru Govern numerous times. He has used Central transport. I quick search also shows a terminal near you. In LTL shipping, you need to understand the different rates. If you are a residential address and need a lift gate, it is the highest cost. No lift gate, and it goes down. Commercial address and its lower and finally commercial address, no lift gate is the lowest. In your case, you will probably have to drive your material to the terminal and possibly rebuild your pallet there. This gets you the same price as commercial address no lift gate. My shipping costs thru Govern to Mario have been in the $0.11 range for about 1500 pounds. Just so you know, Govern is a third party shipper. He is a franchisee of Unishippers. Third party shippers move large volumes for numerous people and thus get some of the best rates available. You and I going to Central transport would not even come close to the rates that a third party shipper commands.

As far as which buyers buy those boards at that price, there are a few. You just need to check the buyers section.

Could use one right now. Too bad the only adult beverages in the house are hard stuff or premixed pina colada.

For me, from now on its all about volume- used to ship boxes Fed Ex sometimes 6 at a time from CT using CFFS Fed Ex account to ship cost me about 24.00 a box at 65 lbs if I drop at Fed Ex. That got old fast and business picked up so now I ship 2 pallets at a time of about 1600++ lbs for the pair using CFCS for shipping quotes it costs me up to 120.00 for the 2 in total, sometimes less. As far as I have seen if you can save up a pallet load it seems to me to be the most economical solution.
Of course thats from my commercial warehouse and I have a forklift to put it on the truck now.
I have not needed liftgate service - does anyone know how much more that usually is... Gorvan ? Just in case the forklift craps out - she is a tired old mule

That is an even better price than I've gotten. What part of CT are you shipping from?

Yes there are many scrappers on the site here that ship to Ewasted from quite a bit further away than you are. If you are serious about making some money on boards; get with the program, do some reading here, get a good scale and a place to start stacking a standard 40x48 pallet. It's not hard to put 1500lb of sorted material on one, shrink wrap it and then use the resources you can find on this site to have it picked up or a close terminal to drop it off. You're going to be impressed on how cheap it is to ship and you can do much better in the cash return department as well.

C'mon now RLS ... It's less than 240 miles. I am right on Lake Ontario between Buffalo and Rochester and it is 240 miles for me to get to eWasted's place.

You have been given the answer over and over. I guess you just can't see it? Open an account, start a shipment, request pickup. FedEx will come to your door and your shipping will be cheap.

Between this thread and the shipping thread I have seen more buyers names mentioned than any others I can remember plus a lot of info about shipping boxes and pallets.

I hope the OP of this thread has learned something even if no one else has.

I never checked this when I responded the first time. Your own statement "it's not 24 miles, or even 240 miles, but thanks for playing." Zip code 15801 to zip code 44146 - 167 miles. Someone hasn't done their homework.

mthomasdev , I am shipping from Danbury 06810. I have a commercial location and have a forklift available which helps lower the cost a bit. I use the CFCS shipping option. Also 2 pallets at a time is more economical than one. I am shooting for 3 or 4 on my next load
so hopefully there will be increased savings by economy of scale.
RynaW - If that cost is true for my area it would cut into my bottom line too much so I am glad that the ol mule ( forklift) keeps running !

I'll have to look into that option again. I've got about 15 pallets (not all boxed up yet) that will be going out to ohio (possibly split between 2 buyers).

Thanks, guys for the assistance! Sorry about the pics. I have not been able to figure out how to post them other than using my Dropbox link. I have been busy with school so I haven't had much time to check out the buyer's area here much. I did find some buyers for other things, though, that I have already started selling to.. Anyway, sorry for the late reply; Iv'e been very busy with school lately. I hope to be more active in the coming weeks. Thanks again for the help!

Actually you are LESS THAN 200 miles from Mario. Get off your butt, load a truck, and drive there. Make an appointment and get paid to get an education. He can walk you through the process and hold your hand. Spend a day and maybe $75 in gas and take a TRUCKLOAD in. Stop whining about shipping when you are in DRIVING DISTANCE to the best buyer on this forum.

200 miles and no name ... the "buyer's & sellers" section is dead ( no new posts 60+ days ) for anyone within 200 miles under "general escrap", "circuit boards" and "CPUs"
I can only assume you are talking about this Mario than ...
