    Computer Price Breakdown

Ok, a lot of people on here ask how much a computer is worth in scrap, so I wanted to see for myself how much a "typical" computer is worth. Here is my breakdown based on Ewasted's pricing and/or my local yard/buyer for anything he didn't have a price on. Each computer, of course, is going to be a little different. This one's hard drive was removed. Moderators, I couldn't find any other posts on this subject, but if there is one, feel free to delete this one. Hope this helps some newbies.

This was on a Dell desktop with a P4.

    Motherboard 1 lb 9.2 oz @ $3.75/lb $5.91
    PCI cards (finger boards) 9.2 oz @ $4.25/lb 2.44
    Memory cards (3) 1.2 oz @ $14.90/lb 1.12
    Power Supply w/wires 4 lbs 4.3 oz @ $.34/lb. 1.43
Light Iron case 13 lbs @ $.067/lb .87 (My yard)
    DVD drive 5 inch 1 lb 14.3 oz @ $.17/lb .32
    Gold connectors 4.3 oz @ $2.00/lb .54
    CPU P4 metalback w/pins .6 oz @ $8.75/lb .33
Alum heat sink 13.3 oz @ $.40/lb .33 (My yard)
    ABS plastic 5 lbs @ $.05/lb .25 (My buyer)
    Wires 7.4 oz @ $.40/lb . .19 (My yard)

    Total 13.73

*How's this? It was off by exactly $ .50.
