ive only found 2 more of course until today i havnt found any so now i got 5. i dont think ive ever thrown any in the steel because these are narrower than the steel ones ive seen. most of mine are c02 so no mess there, i buddy says the ones i get with chemicals in them they are harmless. anyway its about 2:00 this is my first break all day cept when i put the pics up, im gonna head back out and see how much i can make in a day just on extinguishers. thanks guys for the comments

long day, my uncle come picked me up this afternoon and we done some running around, i helped my ex gf move some stuff, and only worked maybe an hour after the last post. ended up with 7 of the copper ones they feel heavy maybe 3lbs or so just a guess, probably 50 or so lbs of brass some alum tubes and stainless handles, i also have over 100 whole assembles twisted out of the tanks to dissassemble, and found around 10 large aluminum tanks that i need to cut in half, ill have a big payday monday, two cars to take in and i hope to get all these assembles separated tomorrow to take in also

Well, Cory, I wouldn't call this subject a "dead horse". In fact, me personally, I'd like to learn a little more about it. Very informative! We need more posts like this. Keep up the good work! And good luck!!

thanks skyline, and congrats on the new grandbaby the only thing i found new today is i had one brass tube which just means i dont have to separate it. i do have a little bad news and good news at the same time, where Kris Kringle praised me inpost 2 i may lose a little of it here, but i may have been throwing the chains all in the steel, im finding out that over half of them are brass, also today i found 4 of the pins were copper and the rest are mostly brass or stainless with very few being regular steel, soooo i guess i found out a few things today, ive got a five gallon bucket full of brass that broke the plastic part of the handle when i tried to pick it up

Hey dont feel bad bro. A lot of stuff is coated and u just never know till you scratch or grind it. I often kik myself in the ass when I figure I have been throwing things in the tin when indeed they are not tin lol.

I just learned yesterday old hub caps from a 50's dodge are brass lol. I thought it was stainless and hit it with the grinder. No spark, wth. Look closely and Im like **** man, yellow brass. Started scrambling and pulling them all back out of the bin.:">

okay, i started saturday morning worked a good part of the day and worked sunday morning and just a little bit this morning, im gonna say i worked for 12 hours on these this weekend

    old cast alum 194lbs 56cents 108.64
    brass breakage 10lbs 83cents 8.30
    yellowbrasshoney 112lbs 1.88 210.56
    2 copper 3lbs 3.00 9.00
    304stainless 9lbs 78cents 7.02
    old sheet alu 11lbs 58cents 6.38

    3 car batteries 29.96

total total total total total total total 379.86

after you take the batteries off about 350 $$$$$$ or almost 30 an hour cash, thats what i make at my job on 1 1/2 then they tax the scrap out of it. not sure why i didnt get number 1 on my copper i didnt notice until i typed this up but it was only 3 lbs so im out a whole 50 or 60 cents so ill be okay on that. there was around 10 large alum tanks and a few smaller ones on the cast. ive got lots more broke down to the nozzle stage and lots more than that to knock out of the tanks, plus eventually ill have to cut steel tanks in half, i do a few every now and then and toss em in the trunk of a car. anyway been a good day i scrapped two cars, still got two cats a radiator a battery and about $6 in loose change from the cars plus the fire extinguishers, all this done by myself my partner had his kids this weekend and is at work today. hope everyones weekend was as productive as mine or even more im taking a break the rest of the day at least i say so ill slip up and accidently do some work afterwhile
