At a 50/50 weight mix, it would only be worth $6.50 ($5 for connectors, $1.50 for wire).
If my calculations are right, and IDE end is only worth around 1 to 1.5 cents a piece at the $1/Lbs. mark.
It will be interesting to see what you find out.

I found out i lost money o well i wanted something to do and cheaper then drinking.
6 pounds ins 3
4 pounds gold connectors
Made back 5.80$
So ribbon cable I judge isnt worth buying what so ever.

No I have a box of it and one yard offered .10/lb and another guy offered me .20/lb....wondering what I should do wit it
|
|

power supplies also are a ***** around here -.- can only offer .50 cents a unit and make profit locally. peoples heads spin when they been saving a few boxes of them.

cut the connectors and get the wire at insulated 3 took me 15 minutes to do 10 pounds. An i ment its not worth me buying from the guy thats sitting on a few hundred pounds of it.
Getting around .85/lb for ins #3 and at least $2/lb for the connector
usuing your #'s would be 5.10 for the wire and 8.00 for the connecters
little over 3 dollar profit for 15 minutes or 12 dollars an hour

I would try to talk the price down from $1/lb, and maybe shop around for a little better price for your gold ends......

|

yeah was more i was sending out my pile of gold end for the free shipping with the boards i was sending. Just sucks pretty hard with shipping from here to any of the buyers that pay more. im gonna look for a #3 buyer that pays more good advice. after shipping from here gold connectors are 1.25$ per pound at 2$ not very much meat there.

I am in the same boat. My wire buyer just pays $0.30 for ribbon.

You guys should count your blessing, my wire buyer wont even buy computor ribbon.

Same here no sale here either, Mike.

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked

I find a real quick way to cut the end off is with a cutting board and utility knife, lay the rippon cable flat and score!

It's a mad dash for scrap, every time I have been out there has been a scrapper in front or behind me on the route, smart to do more pickup/dropoff stuff because I haven't been getting much. I got one whole tower, a angle iron structure, and a few sraps out of a garbage in the past week, not much.

i just stack them in my shears and go to town was easy enough. Btw the forsyth yard drop board price to 2.50. Bring in a good amount of boards and talk to the boss and try to get 3.00 but those suckers got to be super clean now. Im starting up a crt tv drop off at my place and paying 2$ a piece see how that goes O.o but its worth it for me just to break them down and not waste my gas as much. im working slowly from chasing them trash trucks to finding pickups online and phone calls. Still need to chase them trucks to get my petty cash though :-p. How you do this week ScrapYahHerd? I managed to get 48lbs of mobos, pound of ram, 30 processors, 20 power supplies, and 6 lbs of pci cards. and i got 11 tvs to break down tomorrow ^-^ Im stoked for Friday but i dont wanna jinx it by talking about it yet. for now im just trying not to be impatient and loose more profit then i need to. and saturday got the same guy i got all the stuff from this week calling me again. busy busy busy

i get about .75 for ribbon wire and 1.8 for gold ends if i ship. I bout a 35 lb box of printer cables for 10$ on ebay picked up locally that was a quick easy profit

Thats what I plan to do wait till i got enuff to fill a large flat rate box and ship it away. At $2 a pound for the ends you should be able to buy the cable for $.50 a pound a make a good profit.
