as per ehow 2010 Tantalum Capacitor Scrap Specs
Tantalum scrap capacitors can themselves contain a bevy of recoverable materials in addition to the tantalum foil used in their construction. The capacitor shells are made of a combination of plastics and sometimes shielded metals, and the electrolyte can be a wide range of solid or liquid materials. Between each tantalum foil layer, paper or plastic is also present as a barrier. As of late 2010, tantalum scrap sells at a low end of $50 per pound and a high end of $85, depending on market flux and the specific buyer.

Wow a lot of links, are we speaking of the infamous "flux capacitor" or did I miss something?

All the links are good and discuss tantalum except the ''Click here'' in post #5. Yeah, dummy me clicked on em all.

I deleted a couple of irrelevant posts but tantalum in itself is a legitimate subject for recycling. I didn't check the second ("Tokyo") link - it's a video that was taking too long to load.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

So...
The tantalum capacitors go for roughly $50 a pound. Now, WTF are tantalum capacitors? I looked at one of yer ehow links, it showed a picture of some small capacitors, are those the tantalum caps? Because TV boards have a BUNCH of those.
Hmm.

Here's a pic of one type of tantalum cap. They look like M&M's and come in all kinds of colours
I take them off low grade boards and save them. I leave them on high grade boards though.
