Fujitsu split type a/c model no. Asu12d

Got a couple of these A/C units. They are the hanging kind about 4' X 2'. Did not pay anything for them, they were just tossed in along with the water heaters I pick up. Got a central air unit out of this Load too.

Two Phillips head screws then the top comes right off.

Under the cover is a nice little radiator. Just a few bends of the copper tubing, and it lifts right out.

A few more Phillips head screws and all the wires and electronics, a motor and transformer come right out. The motor actually required a little bit of "encouragement" with a bfh.

My new helper. Her name is Scrappy-Doo.

Ended up with a motor, small transformer, maybe 1/2 lb. of ins. #2 some boards, plug ends.

A few lbs. of sheet metal.

Couple lbs. of copper tubing. PROTIP: the pipe insulation works good as a protector for your ice fishing rods. Just slide the rod in the slit and you won't break anymore rods.

Nice radiator. Bout 5 lbs.

In NewZealand we call those 'Inverter heatpumps'. They are pretty popular as they make heat and cold, for less of a co$t than a normal electric heater.

They are my favorite thing to scrap down. Ours seem to be bigger than the one you have, but look the same.
Often theres a huge Aluminium heatsink. 2Lbs +. I am saving them up to sell on TradeMe.com (our ebay) as new heatsinks that size are worth far too much.
The compressor is too tough to scrapdown, too much work for the same amount of Copper as a fridge compressor.
Its the radiators that really bring in the $. Misc 'domestic Copper' pipe and the radiators can be flattened and don't take up a lot of space if stacked.

On one that I found, as soon as I saw the circuit board I saw a out of line SMD transistor, about 20 deg out of line. A close look showed a arc on one leg and I relised thats why the thing stopped working. The solder had cracked and broke the air bridge of solder, which arced and blew the connection, and it stopped dead.
$2500 later they got a new one...

I love finding out why things stopped and caused it to be scrapped. Even figuring out what sound it make when it failed is fun too.

The wife found her one night wandering the streets about 2 weeks ago. It was a 90 degree day and I've never seen a little dog drink so much water. She drank, vomited, drank, vomited, this went on for 1/2 hour.

She looked very malnourished and her teeth have a green slime on them. Looks like the alge/moss you would see on a rock at the lake this time of year. Her breath is absolutely horrid.

We put an ad on FB to see if anyone would claim her. Then we talked to the vet and he said " why do you want to give her back to someone who is neglecting her?" That made sence, so we took the ad down and she's been with us ever since.

I let her out to play in the yard while I'm working. She has wandered into the pasture a few times, but She always shows up at supper time so she's ours I guess.

At first I thought " oh great, another **** mouth to feed", but I've grown very attached to her lol.

She has an appointment at the vet today to get the green slime off her teeth and get shots. I'm sure that's going to cost me a couple hundred dollars.

Oh well, she seems to have made friends with our other Wiener dog, and like I said I really like her so I guess she's here to stay!!!

I have some pixs like that laying around somewhere but you made it look so simple. The thing I like about a/cs is most of the material is recyclable. Sure a lot better % return of total scrappable sellable material than say a copier or printer...Don't really like those things.

Our mutual lawyer acquaintance from your fine small town used to have a thing for mini wiener dogs. He took his first, "'Ace" was its name, antelope hunting. That was a sight to be seen. I was afraid that it might get impaled on a larger prickly pear cactus or napped by a golden eagle but Ace survived the trip. I haven't talked to VPB in a long time, I wonder if he still gets and keeps those little dogs...??

Hey Rog, yeah they still have mini Dachshunds over there. I think at least two. In fact V's wife Julie came over and clipped Scrappy Doo's nails for us.

My wife is tight with Julie, not so much V. Lol

Just an update on Scrappy-Doo since her vet visit:
Green slime on her teeth was from malnutrition. Had to pull one rotten tooth. All cleaned up, and her breath is much better. Needs to be fed special food to put a pound or two on her. Vet also removed a wart from her head, and she got all her shots. She's happy as a clam.

I need to scrap about 40 more A/C units to pay the bill. Lol

Yeah, my common vision of VPB in his younger days was a cup of coffee in one hand and a Salem in the other in a slightly bow-legged stance. That stance helped when he was in the bars, didn't wobble as much. Man, that's long time ago, before his wife and kids were in the picture. I feel kinda old now...
