Just a paper trail to track everyone not just the dishonest people. The whole goal is have total and complete govt control of our lives, the excuse is stopping metal but really Id put these polictians in the same boat as the metal theifs. I think the govt should get a handle on its own corruption before its trys to keep tabs on me.

the simple fact is no law or regulation will fix any thing, or have much of an effect except on honest people the outlaws will find a way. they always do.

Well, I have yet to have my yards tell em that they have to give me a check. Cash on the barrelhead still going on here in Florida. I have to drive my air conditioner rads to the next county though.

In regards to the air conditioner rads/coils, is that due to theft locally? Are they imposing limits or restrictions in your neck of the woods? Here in Chicago it's still fairly loose, just a photo ID w/ a payout over $100.

I went to a yard the other day, (since I don't do this that much) they issue you a temporary ATM card with the ATM just a few feet of where they give it to you. When you use the ATM card it gives you cash and keeps the card that is issued to another person in line. I don't know if this is a work around for the check thing or not since it is the first time I saw it done this way.

Always a loophole In any law, so I'm not sweating whatever comes down the pipe. Just wait and see tho, someday govt regulation will choke most of the profit out of this so the average joe won't be able to make any money and the corporate boys will own the whole game lock, stock and barrel, which is the way they want it.

This is how the law works in Florida: any restricted items, like A/C parts, utility wire, brass utility valves, etc. have to be accompanied with proof of ownership like a letter from the company where the person got it, or a recipt and that person can not recieve cash for it. It doesnt matter if it is only a pound. The check will be sent out in the mail. If you have a secondary dealer license or have a business that generates that scrap, then you can receive a check for it that day at the yard. If you get caugh buying that stuff, it went from a misdomenor to a felony.

Tater; It's not the corporate boys, they don't make the laws, wait and see what happens if the president gets reelected.

I've been selling to a yard in Fort Pierce. Typical loads consist of SS, AL and some copper. I get paid part cash and part check. The only question regarding copper is whether or not it was refrigerant, probably due to the theft in that type of material. I'm hauling fairly large loads and call ahead and usually get a better price than walking in off the street.

In Minnesota, cans are the only thing you can scrap without ID. All other metals are recycled with an ID only. Most scrap places have you sign A check to them (Issued by them right on the spot), then pay you cash (Transaction is on file). I think the ID thing started in 07/08, before no regulations. Theft caused this in abandoned/foreclosed homes/drugs use.

Oh sure....the state/federal gov't has to get in on the 'take' and make some money; then hire some lawyers to uphold the new law, keep the courts, the cops, the investigators and the IRS busy and then brag about all the increase of employment in America.

    LOL.....ranting is contagious.
