Holy Lead..What a lead of a day. haha

So we have picked up a total of 15000lbs of lead from a client/friend of ours within the past couple years. And on monday we picked up another 7500lbs. I forgot to snap a picture of mondays load but they looked nearly identical to the first load he brought us. Talk about a good payday for less then two hours time from purchase to sale.

They were all from wheel weights. This guy has some wheel weights. I actually asked to take a picture of all the ones he still has, but he said he would rather me not and I respected his wishes. But let me tell you....There are gaylords involved.

There a lot of folks on this forum paying around $1 a pound for wheel weight ingots. Might be an opportunity for you there.

We paid .43/lb for it but also picked it up, so it was 3225.00.

And man at a 1.00/lb we could have made 4200 bucks rather than our 1500. But heck a quick turnaround aint to bad either.

If I can find someone paying a buck a pound for lead I'm going to go to the local "unoffical" shooting range and start running all the sand from the backstops through a screen!

Who pays $1 a pound? Go to the link in my 1st post. There are a lot of good folk over there that would be happy to provide you with a secondary market for your lead. I encourage you to check the forum out, lots of good info and nice people.

I doubt the scrapper that had 40,000 lbs would be looking for a market. For those that find lead "occasionally" this could be a way to sell them at a better price than the yard pays.

I thought .50 per bl. was good, I will check out the link but idk if it would be worth shipping unless they pay for shipping.

Check out ebay as well if you want to see people paying $1 per pound for lead. In some completed listings people are paying about 1.15 per pound!

I normally just scrap E waste but I did come across 200 pounds of lead ingots and scrap pieces. What is an average price at a Yard? I also came across 2600 lbs of lead barriers used with radioactive material. Keep in mind the barriers are NOT hot, the radioactive material can not penetrate lead. The 4 pieces are no bigger than a 5 gallon bucket. would they be as valuable as the ingots? When someone said$0.50/lb that really got my attention.
