My Christmas Bonus

Well the plant that I scrapped last week was pleased with the job, so they decided to let me scrap old refridgeration units that were on the roof. The pictures don't have a scale but these were 5' tall.

The Guts: There was alot of copper 2, and copper/aluminum radiators.

All in all, it was fairly simple, except climbing around the units on the roof like a monkey in freezing 30mph winds. But at the end of the day, it was definately all worth it.

Nice score, hope your saving all those silver soldered elbows and joints to run in a copper cell to reclaim the silver. Your scrap yard will buy the cathode copper as number 2. Considering the value of the silver reclaimed this is a small loss.

Besides with the silver joints your copper is going as number 2 anyhow, if I was better fixed financially I would make an offer to purchase the joints and elbows.

I got a little over a ton of the "clean" stuff. The yard did the right thing by me, I do have one complaint..I'm dissapointed they wouldn't give me anything above light iron for all the "strips" I cut off the units. I guess all for a reason though, I would have settled on .25/lb for the strips after an exhausting day yesterday, but now that I rethought the situation, I'll get all the copper loops out of it and sell the rest as "dirty aluminum" at my normal yard.

what can I do witht he leftover strips that would yield better than seperating the copper loops from them? I thought I did pretty well breaking them down, theres not much left. I'll take some pics tomorrow,,

Now that i reread everything, maybe I wasn't clear as to what I meant by "strips". I didn't mean the acual units, I meant the "ends" of the units that conatin the steel mounts to mount the units.
