    This Was Different

Backed in to unload shred today. Parked right next to a 40 something woman unloading her truck, and being the friendly sort said hello. So I start unloading, and I notice that she is throwing off a good sized rock every now and again. Just didn't know what to think. I am thinking of mentioning it to the yard manager tomorrow. Don't want them thinking I did it.

Guess some people just got rocks for brains!

I would guess that they already know about it. The guys who run those yards know all the tricks and weren't born yesterday. I heard a story about a guy who brought in a bunch of copper pipes that had been filled with molten lead. They got away with it but won't be selling anything else to that yard.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

scrappers do that when they know they have like 100lbs of scrap. Unfortunately, it is not illegal, but the scrap yards can ban them for returning.

I would think it is illegal as they are padding their weight they are getting paid for, Indirectly stealing!

its not illegal because the yard assumes responsibility for grading what they are buying. if they are negligent and end up grading granite as shred, thats their issue. They also have the right to refuse to buy anything from anyone. thats why its not illegal, but that is some bull $#it. and Hurrikane is right, its deception on the woman's part, and i would call it theft also. its downright dirty and wrong... and thats saying a lot coming from a Filthy individual.

I would tell the yard manager too. its bad for business and just like a grocery store which raises their prices to compensate for inventory theft, the yard could lower their price to make up for it and it hurts everyone.

Imo I probably is not illegal, like filthy said it is the yards responsibility to grade the material they buy, @ my yard they inspection your truck as you weigh in, and while I unload.. several times they have actually help me unload or unloaded for me. It is bad business though, especially because I'm sure she had the rocks hidden when she pulled in, under scrap.

It will come around....sad. Not very smart. I truly believe that when you do things like this it will come back around in a different way and x10. I wish I saw her pull up next to me. This Georgia Peach woulda turned on her Jersey Attitude and I woulda said something. OK, no no, I woulda been nice, but I have no problem speaking out and I would have let her know it will come back and bite you....she will never profit enuff to go anywhere because that is stealing. I would have also told her if I see her doing that again I am reporting her.

My apologies for not being more clear. I just meant that it is not illegal in the fact that they can be arrested or fined for doing stuff like that. But they can be banned from ever returning to the scrap yard.
