What We Do In The Evening

Watch movies and strip wire. Not a bad way to spend an evening. Aluminium on the left. Tinned copper on the right

The family that strips together, stays together. Toss that comment out to someone that doesn't have a clue lol.

I booked a holiday to turkey yesterday and were taking my mother and sister with us as a thank you for all they do for us, helping with our baby. They know how many hours I work and how hard I've been looking for appliances to scrap to help us pay for it. My little sister asked if her and my girlfriend can start stripping wire every night to help me out. I'm really proud of her attitude and can't wait to see the copper bins fill up!

No idea how much for the aluminium wire. But I found a bunch in the barn, and to have any value at all I figure it needs to be stripped. Good practice if nothing else.

Aluminum wire where i'm at in NJ goes for about .70-.80 a lb pending. Not tinned copper wire.

Bare aluminum wire is treated as Prepared Aluminum here. The aluminum wire I've gotten is real easily stripped since it tends to be larger gauge and the insulation is stiffer than copper. As for prices, this is from a price list I got Aug 4th and is intended as a comparison guide:

    Aluminum - 0.50/lb
    Insulated Aluminum - 0.25/lb

I think it's well worth the couple minutes it takes to strip about 50' of wire and double the money.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
