Talking Treasure In A Forgotten Miscellaneous Bucket

I was doing some cleaning, and found a bucket with odd-ball 'tech' items I tossed in there to eventually process.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's been over 2 years since it has seen the light of day.

Amongst the stuff, was a carbon monoxide detector and a control module for an exercise bike, containing 2 valuable IC chips and a valuable CO module.
The 3 items, used, sell for $40 - $60 on Ebay

    An update:
Just sold the last chip on Ebay. Before fees, taxes, e.t.c. - I made $36 from the sales of those parts.
The most valuable ( sold price ) was the CO2 sensor.

Ummm ... it's kind of a toughie. Especially so if you're self employed. It's about time management.

Figure $36.00 gross minus expenses. It might leave you with $ 30.00 for a couple of hours of work. It comes out to $ 15.00/hr. That's minimum wage in many places now.

The successful sale proves the concept that you can make money this way ..... but is the juice worth the squeeze ?

There's all this pressure to perform these days. You gotta figure out a way to double or triple your income just to stay even and pay the bills every month.

Keep up .... or fall by the wayside and end up living in your car somewhere.

A few extra $ is worth my time if I have nothing better to do.
My Ebay income is not exactly a lot, but it's enough for some extra spending money at the end of the month.

Example: Sold a Asus X79 motherboard along with all of the items that were on it.
That was over $200 total ( before expenses ). Not a bad chunk of change for my spare time

I hear ya. It's the thrill of the hunt for me. Most of the time ... scrapping is a lot of work ... but every once in awhile you hit on that little nugget of gold that's easy money.
