Thumbs down Quit making all scrappers look like idiot junkies and petty thiefs

Hopefully she made an honest mistake and will return the items. It's always better to risk annoying someone busy or in a hurry by asking them about any item in question before you take it - if they aren't available to ask and you aren't sure - LEAVE IT THERE.

thats a shame- surely any honest person would have asked first before taking tools etc.
its clear that this person knew what they were doing is wrong.

Why would anyone put an ad on CL for scrap pickup and have their tools laying around where they can be stolen? Not very smart.

The ad is probably fake and he's trying to file an insurance claim.

Someone was going onto peoples property and making a mess of dumpsters that were having work done to their houses in town. Of corse a few people thought it was me. One guy even came to my house and complained. I said wasnt me, and he said it better not. He lived around the corner from me.( drunk driver drove into his house and the suv fell into the basement ) He eventually caught the guy parked in his driveway, then apologised to me and had the remodel guys keep all the scrap out of the dumpster and saved all the scrap for me to have. A few weeks later, there was another house in town complaining on facebook about the same problem. Said they chased this person out and even tryed to follow them out of town. The guy did eventually get caught trespassing. He came back to the house. It didnt help that it was the mayors house, dumb move.

It was also the same guy that was ripping garbage bags open and digging threw garbage cans making a mess.

Maybe he had them locked up and she broke in and took them? Maybe he has cameras and is giving her a chance to come clean and return the property?

Maybe the ad is a lie and he's worse than the thief he is accusing her of being by an elaborate attempt at insurance fraud?
