Minor Craigslist scores: brass + cordless tools

Today on my second round - I picked up 25lbs of brass @ one stop - (and a small water heater 1.5 miles away from the brass). It was an ugly chandelier that no one would buy unless I were to list it for sale for 2+ years and then maybe a bite - probably why the guy was getting rid of it. Yes it was real brass not aluminum. It was worth FAR more than scrap value but I don't have time or desire to sell it. I did have to take it apart to take out the ferrous and copper wire etc.. - it's probably the fastest i've ever cleaned something cause the yard (that actually pays decent $$ for brass) was about to close. I got there within 5 minutes of gates closing and didn't drive like a madman. *whew*

Later, I picked up a FREE working set of Craftsman cordless tools with the case, manual, batteries, extra batteries and the charger. One of the batteries I was told worked but doesn't hold a charge long, the other ones are almost new. The set contained a drill, reciprocating saw, circular saw and a large light. From the same person I also got a free Ryobi cordless drill with a newer battery and charger. I was just about to buy a cordless reciprocating saw and had been looking on CL for some used ones. In fact now that I think of it - I had seen this set for sale for $75, and he told me he had it listed for months @ $75 and no one would buy it or even contact him about them. I didn't realize I had seen this set for sale until just right now typing this...

Sure there are better quality tools or whatever, but it's still a score since I got them FREE and I bet they last a long time since I don't use them everyday for hours and hours at a time like my brother in law who owns a construction company. My Harbor Freight 7" corded angle grinder has laster over 6 years - I used it today.

Nice action!! I scored a nice amount of brass off of an old bathroom light fixture thing that someone was giving away and it was on my way to a place I was going. What is your yellow brass going for now? My non-ferrous guy brass is down there near or at the minimum price that I won't take any more in unless I really needed the money badly. Copper here is sort of the only bright spot and that has fallen some as well but still decent.

Yeah, I think the last I sold yellow brass it was $1.50 but now its down to $1.20 so that makes me frown. I like it much better when its $1.75 or above...

As soon as I look at my receipt at home I will update this post - I don't have it in my spreadsheet yet. I think it was $1.44/lb for yellow brass (what I had).

I do know it has gone up from what it was before - $1.36/lb.
