One thing I'm known for, breaking things.

Two weeks ago I exploded a tire and damaged the fender on my trailer, last week I destroyed two power supplies in a row (expensive high wattage supplies). Yesterday I broken the pinion shaft on the rear end of my truck. Then it had to be towed 120 miles back to the shop. I completed a buy that I was enroute to with another truck however I do believe I lost my profits for the day (or week...) lol.

What kind of carnage have you guys been involved in lately on your scrap adventures.

Well my carnage was self inflicted and left on my work bench this morning and I got a call from my concerned wife a few hours later.

I was trying to watch season 7 episode 7 of Game of Thrones this morning on my laptop and was having major issues with it.

By the time I finished watching it I was pretty pissed off. It now has a 6 inch knife blade in it.

I jackknifed my trailer while backing up (Not paying attention) and took out the rear quarter panel on my truck. I waited too long to clean the snow off of my portable garage and it collapsed under the weight of the snow- it was full of computers and tools at the time . I loaded my trailer with alot of possibly re-marketable electronic equipment only to be caught in a major downpour that came out of the middle of now-where and soaked all of the equipment. Just off the top of my head.... I seem to loose alot of tools- me thinks the tool fairy hides them from me

The shop tool budget for bits and little sockets is $200 a month...because I have a hungry tool fairy.

Sitting on the tailgate of the truck taking a lunch break. Somehow my smartphone wound up in the gap between the tailgate and the bed and I didn't realize it. Then I couldn't figure out why the tailgate wouldn't shut

About a month ago, I had my first flat (tire made un-repairable) while delivering one of my little loads of "tin & wire" to the steel yard. I was using my kid's '94 F-150. Of course, his old jack was junk, I had forgotten to bing my cell phone, and his spare hadn't come off of the hanging spindle underneath the truck in years (but it still held air!!). The good thing was that it happened right after I left the scrap office and I was able to still be on their property in a quiet place. The kid wasn't working at that time at his summer job and was able to come get me (actually found me on the highway about a half mile walking towards home which isn't overly far) and we got the flat changed. A bit of a bonding experience, although he still hasn't listened to me to get a new decent jack in his truck. Maybe needs a school of hard knocks lesson of his own...

Yesterday I broke down 2 air compressors at a gas station, and while I was doing so, I sat my socket set on top of a washer. When I was unloading at the yard, I saw a socket, and thought what? oh whatever, then kept finding more, then saw my set nestled in between a washer and compressor, then a small pile of them. I don't know if I lost any haven't checked yet, I just thankfully got them and dumped them in my cup holder, but still scary.

Also was walking kind of fast by my trailer the other day, close fit between it and the wall, I carry my keys on my belt loop, my car key somehow caught in my tail light housing or something, and it stopped me, and bent my key almost to 90°, that was pretty weird.

Usually more just going too fast and hurting myself, forgetting stuff, setting my keys anywhere, don't do that.

Almost forgot, one time I had 14 or 16 shopping carts on my uncles 5x8, I had the gate down flat, (had long chains so I could do that, only do that trick with light loads please) and I didn't strap them good enough so every time they moved it cut the strap a little, then I started going up a hill, the strap was cut by now but I didn't know. They were all bungee corded together, thankfully.
Well, they gracefully rolled off the trailer like a team of horses, peeling back one eyelet for the pin, and bending the other side of the gate in the middle pretty good. I was on a two lane road, there was a little turn spot to go into a neighborhood, and that is where they stopped. Didn't hit any cars, and weren't in the way of traffic. Wow thank you Jesus. I had to push them uphill onto the trailer one row at a time and leave 2 there for later. Strap your stuff good.
