took in stuff today todays prices what prices are you guys getting?

this is what i got when i went to the yard today smallest load i have ever taken had to be done. we had to use the landlords truck for the cans no way it was gona fit in my dads truck its a chevy taho. i dont normally save cans but the landlord had saved them up.

lapaz iron and metal plymouth indiana best place no finger printing no filling out paperwork and everything is done by hand no computers. i got 71.10 for all of it not bad

i finally found out what red brass looks like it looks like a brass fitting but its got a copper coler to it. no one told me untill now i wander how much red i have lost=( now i no what to look for=)

turns out the last time i went in the guy screwed up and i told the other guy what happened.

the one guy said that my bare bright was not bare bright because it had oxidized which was not true so now any cords or wires that are copper coler i get bare bright for like extension cord wire and other cords yay.

the guy also said that my radiator tubes were #2 copper but in fact its #1 anything without solder on it is #1 pipe he made a honest mistake he thought there was solder on the tubes because i took the ali fins off and some of the tubes were whitish and oxidized and even corrosion does not down grade tubes at least at my yard i found a good one to go to now.

the yard i used to go to was run by mexicans and they spoke spanish and ripped me off alot of money i bet=(

    pounds metals price totals
    1 red brass 1.40 1.40
    3 #1 copper 2..10 6.30
    5 #2 copper 2.00 10.00
    2 yellow brass 1.25 2.50
    1 elec motor .10 .10
    5 old sheet .33 1.65
    102 ali cans .40 40.80
    1 ali cast .35 .35
    1 car batt 8.00 8.00

i had to look that up to translate to englsih. i am by no means a racist.

i have nothing against them or any other race of people.

i like other cultures especially japanese and chinese.

there is no need to be mean if you took it that way sry.

i'm just a scrapper who wants the right prices for my stuff thats all and for yards to be honest and fair and speak in english so i know they are not saying bad things like i stole things or something no crime in that.

also i dont speak spanish only english its common curtisy to speak so people understand you. it was the yard that ripped me off not necessarly the latinos or whatever the correct term is to use.

funny thing is that they got shut down for having military grade equipment on the property and it got auctioned off so i guess karma got them. they also didnt give me my car battery on the sheet ether thats what you get when you deal with computers i guess.

Well this is a hot topic right now. There are a lot of racists here, there, and everywhere. But I think your response Mike was very well done.

With that out of the way ... I got paid yesterday for electric motors, cast aluminum, and 40& insulated copper. I don't recall what the motor price was.
Cast AL is 0.47 here right now, down from 0.50 not too long ago.
40% insulated is up to 0.55 from 0.50 not too long ago.

What's it going to take for AL to go up? I just read that the prez imposed a new import tariff on aluminum foil from China. I wonder if it will eventually boost prices for us.
Copper, brass, and Leather. 3 of my favorite things.

agreed racist people are everywhere have to watch out for those messed up people who make the world bad. well sheet was at .38 6/30/17 and cast was at .30 so the 5 cents that sheet lost it moved on to the cast lol. copper #2 went up from 1.85 brass stayed the same #1 copper went up .10 cents and im not sure what bare bright is i assume its either 2.20 or 2.30 cause #1 was 2.10 does that sound about right? not sure what extrusion is since i didnt take it in i only had one heatsink(

i also didnt take in insulated didnt have enough so if its silver wire when you strip it does that mean its ali coated copper? so does that mean if i look at the wires and see copper coler on the end i should strip it and put it in a seperate pile or would it just go as #2 copper?

cool thing though the guy i got today said to call him and he would write up my tickets from now on so i get the correct prices so thats cool.

the other guy was good but i didnt like what he did considering bare bright was what it was and i lost money=(

i assume as scrappers we dont like to lose money for our hard work=)

the guy i got today i told him it takes me 6 days to break down 4 window a/c's thats 8 radiators thats with using a hacksaw, hammer and chisel and one of these https://www.google.com/search?q=lino...a9gyb4mddmDmM: the guy said that wasn't bad for using hand tools personally i think they last longer and you dont have to worry about them shorting out or burning up lol.

I had to look back through what you had said to see why the comment came out in Spanish. Whatever. There are people who will try to rip a person off because they are an "other" compared to the dominate group and there are people who won't. No one group has a monopoly of having no ashloes among them. Its a fallen world. I try to showcase the good aspects, can easily and perpetually drown in the bad.

You're prices are pretty similar to ours. Clean alum is up to 39 cents which is a slight improvement from the recent past. I don't think I've ever gotten "bare bright" or #1 Cu. I'll have to have my nf guys show me what those are sometime, if they even have any laying around.

South Dakota is pretty laid back about bringing in scrap. At the steel yard, I have to show my driver's license, no fingerprinting or writing down of license plates (they probably have the plates anyway from their cameras). I can't remember the last time I've showed my drivers license at my nf metal place. The longer term guys know me, at least by face. They probably take pixs of the license plates as well because we drive inside their building but I'm not aware of it. With more people, come more rules. I have no problem staying at less than a million folks in this state...
