In the second video the lawn mower deck appears to likely be Al. I noticed that the magnet lifted it by the wheels/axles rather that the deck. Mike

Honestly I cant remember checking it. It very well may have been from the looks of video. I have been so busy with my regular job and trying to service scrap customers that call me, some days need 25 hours in them. lol

Never got the magnet, but I've got the claw 3 times. Once for a truck bed, once for the back right quarter or so of a car, and once for this piece of pig iron.
My full time is at a machine shop so obviously they handle 99% of their own scrap. But oddball stuff they don't wanna break down or that their scrap company doesn't accept goes to me. This guy is an old optical comparator from about the 40's. For those who dont know, basically you put a part on the table and a light makes a shadow which is magnified, typically 10 or 20x so it can be measured. Didn't get an exact weight on it, but based on how the truck sagged and handled on the road, I'd gander a guess somewhere between 6-800 lbs.
I would get my small magnet to check it for Al. Good find. 73, Mike

My yard does me the claw and magnet all the time and i love them for it, the yard i used to go to never claws anything usually. I always watch them do it it's cool. The best is when you have something big enough and no straps, and you don't even get out of your car, and from inside it feels like it's borderline wrecking your car, then you just wave and drive away all cool like. I was at a different good yard and i was like "you crane this?" with crane hand gesture and pointing, and he just like shook his head no, and he was so close he could've so easily, i said, "ok" haha.

I never get a magnet. I think it's my fault tho, I mean I use a freaking mini-van so probably best they don't give me the magnet treatment.
Tho I do get wanded anytime I go to a concert or an amusement park. Does that get me any cool points? I mean they detect all the metal on me..so I do get the magnet treatment..just not at scrapyards.
I feel oddly violated now.
