    When do you cash in?

Just for curiosity, when and how often do you all cash in? I scrap part time. I usually make a trip to the yard 2-3 times a month. Usually works out to be 2 ferrous trips and 1 non-ferrous. This is all done with a station wagon. Just got a trailer though so Ill be able to boost my numbers.

when you need the money, when storage is full, when you have a truck load, when you see a price spike, when you have a chance to get there during business hours
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

I take in a truck load of shred (sheet iron), clean sheet iron, prepared or torch as I get enough of it. At a yard I go to after your 10th trip you get + $.10 a pound and or + $10 net ton for steel, on your next trip. So the 11th trip I take in the "good" stuff. But I still call around to make sure the price with the "bonus" is a good one! It also makes since to get rid of the low value items like coax, cord ends and other cheep stuff as the 10 cent increase counts on all items...

I run in 2 or 3 loads of shred a week in the the spring threw fall and only one load of shred a week in the winter. 1 load of hms a year, and cast iron twice a year. bring one load of non ferrous a month, some times two depending on what comes my way.

I started a thread with pics, Going to the yard-Greytruck, a bit back for example if need be

I probably go once a month or so. Usually when I get a load of steel or when I get too much brass and aluminum under the bench. I have scored a couple ali piles and will probably be taking that soon. I will throw in any motors or other big things just to make room for more.

I go either when I have a full load, need space, after a demo job or to help pay a bill. I've even gone to the scrap yard just for gas money to fill up the truck.

Usually when the truck gets full or if I need to clear it out in preparation for a huge pick up. When i was in the Army it was like 1-2 times a month. Right now its 1-2 times a day or more. I dont hoarde my aluminum or anything really. If i have it and its on the truck clean i just off load what i got at the yard.
