    Retired Scrapper - Sort of.

Nice little clean up came my way this afternoon, Toyota Cressida, two Ski doo's, six riding mowers, snow blower, roto tillers along with misc chainsaws, wheel barrows, vice and tools, guys brother committed suicide and wants nothing to remind him of the gory details.

Asked him what the brothers name was so as to humanise and show a bit of respect for his deceased brother.

The clean up had been postponed by the family, the deceased had not made out a will and now the lawyers are now about to rape the estate.

Should you find yourself in such a predicament, its common practice for a family member to make application to the courts to designate a family member as executor, if all beneficiaries are in agreement in how the estate is going to be split up then going through the motions of probate are fairly straight forward.

I told this to the brother in law but think the slimy lawyer has already has them sign papers giving him authority to act as executor, lesson here is always read what your sighing. If you do not understand the language get another lawyer under consultation to explain it to you.

Might be the best $100.00 you've spent in a long time. Knowledge is power.

As for not getting the clean up this does not break my heart as I already have plenty on my plate to keep me busy.

Pat and I went on our milk run yesterday taking in four landfill sites, the first was a bonanza with a lot of video hardware that Parks Canada had disposed of, then two soft ice cream machines each having a pair of 2 hp electric motors plus a pair with hear reducer heads that I'll go back for did not have the proper sockets to remove.

From the same landfill an old lawn boy mower with a two stroke engine, these sell on ebay for around $100.00.

Our seconded stop I got a nice Sanyo plasma flat screen tv that actually worked when plugged in at home so we now have our first television in 12 years.

The third site was non productive but from our last stop got a very old electric roaster made by Westinghouse that I'm going to use for electro-chemistry projects the roaster would be perfect for keeping my electrolytes heated.

After a years absence from attending the landfill sites all the custodians greeted us with warm welcome smiles, we had a good day.

Sister to the Lawn Boy mower I found yesterday, in all likelihood the mower deck is magnesium.

Usable item / items yes, full loads of scrap no.

Computers and other types of e-waste are fair game, cord cutting, copper and brass if its not going to create a conflict of interest with the custodian of the site your visiting. I no longer save copper but have decided I have a need for red brass for a casting project I have in mind to do in the near future.

I have found some very interesting stuff from the landfills, the WWII flame thrower was perhaps my most lucrative having sold for $3500.00, an early 1900's wooden Hudson Bay Christmas hamper box that went for $500.00. The list is huge.

As you can see I have good reason to be hooked on refuse sites.

Yesterday at our third stop was another lawn boy mower, I checked it over and left it behind because it had a plastic fuel tank only to find on ebay it's old enough to be a collectable, if its there on my next visit will bring it home and put it up on auction.

Had a good day dump hopping yesterday, parted out a 1930's electric range and a 1959 Hammond organ then grabbed a few more parts from the Taylor soft ice cream machines.

Found a Joseph and Sons carving knife from the 1800's, Queen Victoria era.

Our custodians are over brass and copper which I leave alone, I'm after the old collectable stuff that the kids toss out when the parents pass away and they want to clean the house out to get her on the market.

As they say, One man's junk is another's treasure.

About the only thing we have changed on our excursions is that we now pack a lunch rather than buy grub on the road.

You know it Mike, I'm the King of the junk pile.

This particular Hammond came with a pair of woofers with one smaller speaker which I'll be offering later this week. In the meantime putting up a FM receiver along with a bunch of vintage electric range goodies.

Thanks for the heads up on the Leslie's, this is what this forum is all about and I'm sure that some members weren't aware.

    He's sporting his summer cut.

    Long hair's a b***h when it's hot outside.

We have coyotes here but they are easily scared off. If we had bears here, I believe I'd be packing a 44.
