    Exercise and street scrapping

    Gonna give this another shot.

Last year I had set a goal to pick up I think it was 150 lbs of scrap off the streets and roads while walking during my lunch hour. This was due to the fact I finally admitted I needed to lose some weight. I am a goal oriented person, and if I set a goal like picking up that amount of scrap then it gives me motivation to reach that goal. I had picked up about 30 lbs when my property took a direct hit by a tornado on 26 April 2015. Unfortunately that day will be forever etched into my brain housing group. 130K+ damage. Thank God for insurance. Needless to say the majority of my off work time was spent trying to get my life back into some semblance of normalcy.

With the exception of a few boxes that still needs to be unpacked, life is pretty much back to normal, with the exception of a little bit of anxiety when I hear from the weatherman "possible severe weather coming". With that being said, I am attempting the goal again, 150 lbs picked up from the streets by the end of the year. It will be a challenge, mainly due to the fact that I normally wear slacks to work, except for Fridays, when we can go casual. For me that will be trousers with cargo pockets, plenty of pockets to hold street scrap. Plus they allow us to wear casual on days no clients will be in the building, and they send out an email letting us know.

I have walked two days now (not leasurely, a relatively decent pace), and have gotten back to my vehicle each time with both of my cargo pockets stuffed. Hopefully tornadoes do not hit a property twice in successive years, and I can complete the goal this timel.
