We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

Do you do more than scrap value sales on parts? Those have fallen, but that market is independent of the commodities market to a certain degree. More than scrap value parts lose value do to obsolescence, but in my opinion, a large part of the falling prices there has been due to more entering the stream- a lot more people are pursuing this avenue.

I think that more than scrap value prices will fall a little more, and will then resume their normal trend of edging downwards slightly as parts age.

ewaste is directly affected by PM pricing and other metal pricing (there is copper and other less expensive metals in them. Unless there is an uptick (medium to long term uptick), then not really. Ewaste is another form of metal recycling basically, so it is beholden to those commodity markets.

and REALLY, the pricing isn't all that bad...you just can't do 5 computers and make money....same with smaller time scrappers...they have a hard time making money because of small amounts. it will consolidate the market and move out the small players. There will be more for the people still doing it.
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell

I think the precious metal prices have more or less bottomed, maybe a little more down to go. I think the market will slowly start to improve next year. Precious metals tend to rise when there are problems in the stock market or the general economy.

As for less competition, I have already noticed it. On the local craigslist, there used to be 5-6 people regularly advertising for ewaste. Now I am the only one! Getting more stuff all the time.
