    interesting trip to scrap yard

.02 lb for shred. Saw lots of good stuff like antique tractors and a few radiators. Can't believe these are in the shred pile! I wonder who's gonna keep taking stuff in at this price.

they are baiting people to bring shred in with the "goodies in the pile" routine. I bet there is a socket set and a battery charger in their too!

Scrap is just a nuisance to most people. Scrap generators like manufacturing plants have to get rid of it regardless of price.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

My guess is that the old tractors came from an estate cleanup- out here farmers have no problem leaving something parked. There is a Hesston beet digger a couple miles from us that has been sitting so long that there is a tree growing out the top of it. I couldn't find a photo of a Hesston, but this John Deere digger should give you an idea on size- they are not small machines!

I wouldn't be surprised if that digger has been sitting for over 30 years.

I am often dumbfounded with the things I see in the shred pile at the scrap yard. Recently I saw 4 or 5 big, clean aluminum alloy rims in the pile of light iron. Really? Walk 20 yards and get paid 10x more. But some businesses do clean outs and scrap is just a bonus on the side. And some people just don't know the difference. It irk's me nonetheless.

Out here the people who add that stuff to the pile seem to be the ones that don't want to have to show id, give fingerprint and so on. Aluminum cans and steel at most places no id needed for your cash, but some places are collecting the information anyway...
