Let's do some math. That Chevrolet has 6 bolt rims, meaning it's either a half-ton 4x4 model, or a "Light Duty 3/4 ton". We'll give him benefit of the doubt, and call it an LD 3/4 ton. The GVWR should be around 7500#, depending on the engine and transmission. The truck will have a payload capacity of less than 2000# (My "true" 3/4T Dodge can legally haul 1900#). That is a 1996-1999 Taurus. The curb weight for the 1999 Taurus is over 3300#. Granted, you can dock some for fluids missing. Now, to carry the Taurus and the weight of the truck, you would need either 10-ply tires or steel-carcass ones, like the Goodyear Unisteel, to be rated legally there. I doubt that he has those.
Considering the length of the Ford Taurus, he should have around 100" of rear overhang. That's over 8 feet of overhang! He would need, at minimum, a red flag hanging off the rear. The rear overhang is so long that it's acting like a lever against the tie-down on the front. His ratchet strap is bending the stake pocket badly. That's unsafe right there.
He's also obscured the view to the taillights (Tires would get in the way from a behind view). It looks like he's used his come-a-long to attach to the mirror mount on the car, which is a useless anchoring point.
That's just the Taurus! The van is worse- he's dragging parts, that one looks like it could slide off, and if it has the engine or transmission, he has weight behind the rear axle, which adds to the strain on the truck.
In my mind, someone who risks public safety by showing that much blatant disregard to traffic laws and common sense should be punished. Someone who does it twice should have their license suspended.
I've pulled dumb stunts, but that is beyond crazy!
Now, how did he get them on there anyways? It would have taken less time to flat tow them! ;)
