Every time I go to the scrapyard I tell myself...

The low prices are really good for me.

Well, I am trying to tell myself that.

I make the vast majority of my money on better than scrap stuff I salvage from the leftovers.

The scrap money is just beer, snack money. Sometimes it is enough to take the lady out for dinner.

But it sure was a lot nicer when I scored $80 in my cargo van per load (I got a Ford F150 long bed by now) vs. the $10-18 I get now.
Today was huge..... took in a pile of Aluminum and some #2 copper so I actually made $58 today wooheee..... (insert sarcasm here)

Anyhow. I really think though the low scrap prices are good for me, as I get so much more stuff for free.

I took over several mid sized commercial accounts in the last couple of weeks, because their regular guys dropped out of the game.
They were just straight scrappers. Load, scrap, do it again....

Just no money in it for them.
I break stuff down and get always some nice stuff out of it.

In the process of getting a warehouse.
Then I will hit all those mid sized businesses hard.
I have a feeling I will need a full time driver for pickups in no time.

Anyway. Just figured I put some positive spin on the low scrap prices.

I agree that the low prices have been good for me as well. They forced me to learn more, be creative, and analyze my business plan. I cannot wait until the prices increase so I can quit learning and start living.

I am glad you are able to remain positive in these times. Attitude and perspective are 99% of life.

The only thing I like about the low price's are it cleared my head . Now when I find - motors - copper - copper wire - I sell .
I'm very concerned about copper tho - I see most metals are drifting close to 90's pricing . never thought I'd ever see AL go substantial below .50 - Copper at $1.00 at the yards is my worry
I hope what we have now is the inflationary equivalent of the 1990's - even lower would represent truly low value considering cost of consumer goods

I guess a lot of you guys remember good times.Being new at this if I have a 35 or 50 dollar day I feel that's good. And my truck is no gas miser so to me I lose money that way. For now I just try to grin and bare it

Being new to this also I don't mind the low prices, its more than I would be making if I didn't get into this at all. If prices are down I'm still making money. If prices go up then I win
