My truck has the whole back seat dedicated to the tools I could need seperated into totes:

    Tote 1:

Medium tote just for different gloves, waterproof, good gloves, and junk gloves that are disposable

    Tote 2:

Medium tote that is full of ratchet straps, small ones, medium ones, and large 10k rated semi straps for huge loads

    Tote 3:

Random large tote with essentials such as WD-40, electrical tape, duct tape, electrical contact spray, paper towels, oil.

    Tote 4:

Largest box in the truck has a lock on it and I put my worklight, dewalt 18v sawzall, circular saw, 3 batteries, 2 chargers. 2 30ft extension coords. plugin sawzall, li-on drill and battery light and li-on charger

    Tote 5:

Larger size box for hand tools I have 20 types of screwdrivers, utility knives, sawzall blades, vice grips, channel locks, misc pliers, tin snips, dikes, magnets, security drill bit set, normal bits, hole saw bit set, chisels, dust masks, hammers, flatbar, cats paw, leverage bar, small axe, workboots, and some other things I throw in sometimes

    Tote 6 & 7

I have 2 medium totes one with a few of each kind of socket then another tote with adapters and wrenches of each size with some combo wrenches

    Tote 8:

A tote of just zipties the #1 tool for a scrapper, I use them to keep stuff neat such as straps bound up so they dont tangle, I ziptie my coords to tools, extension coords together and tons more.

I also always keep a few magnets stuck to my truck on the side and tailgate
I usually always leave a tow chain and tow strap in my truck to pull cars and stuff out

If your truck is nice its always good to leave a hitch in incase someone hits you or you back into something.

If you suspect anything you are scrapping might contain precious metals, but are not sure, an acid test kit and learning how to properly use it to determine precious metals might be of great value.

At the heart of science is an essential balance between two seemingly contradictory attitudes--an openness to new ideas, no matter how bizarre or counterintuitive they may be, and the most ruthless skeptical scrutiny of all ideas, old and new. This is how deep truths are winnowed from deep nonsense. -- Carl Sagan

Wet weather gear is nice to have. I have some of the military ponchos and the clear raincoats that are in a small bag. They wouldn't fit me, but I have them along for company or trading and such. I have many interesting items that I will have with me in my vehicle.

I have a couple of smaller gear bags that have change of clothes & over nite items that are ready for me to take with if needed or I have the room. I also have some smaller bags that I have many items in that I take with me when I ride along with others.

I have learned how to put many things in a small space and have my tools and gear ready to grab when needed. In theory anyway as some times I will misplace a bag when I'm tired and in a rush and forget where I "buried it".

The more you have the more to try and keep track of. It keeps me busy and entertained anyway.

I mention safety glasses as years back I was cutting dead trees with a chainsaw and got a small piece of saw dust in my eye. I wasn't wearing safety glasses at the time as I was younger and dumber. I remember that I felt miserable with my scratched eye. I have always kept a nice selection of safety glasses and goggles on hand.

The first aid kit and fire extinguisher is worth the room they take up when needed. And a couple of army surplus wool blankets have many uses as long as you keep them clean. They can be washed in a tub and hung out to dry, They shrink a bit but that don't matter.

This is so true! I never thought too much about it in the beginning. One day I was knocking a pressed iron bearing out of cast aluminum, before I knew it, I was cussing, screaming, kicking things, throwing things, it had happened, a very tiny piece of aluminum had shot into my eye. I WAS LUCKY, after 3 agonizing weeks, the eye finally pushed it out as I slept. I keep my safety glasses next to my hammer now as a reminder.
