Uh yea its tax day! Still have a few hours to do them! LOL

Let me tell you how it will be,
There's one for you, nineteen for me,
    Cause I'm the Taxman,
    Yeah, I'm the Taxman.
Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all,
    Cause I'm the Taxman,
    Yeah, I'm the Taxman.
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat,
If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
    Taxman.
    Cause I'm the Taxman,
    Yeah, I'm the Taxman.
Don't ask me what I want it for
    (Taxman Mister Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more
    (Taxman Mister Heath),
    Cause I'm the Taxman,
    Yeah, I'm the Taxman.
Now my advice for those who die,
Declare the pennies on your eyes,
    Cause I'm the Taxman,
    Yeah, I'm the Taxman.
And you're working for no-one but me,

I dinked around later than usual this year but the filing (and the return) are in the rear-view mirror now. I actually made a taxable amount on all my bundled hobbies of my "micro-business". Love that "self-employment tax" they figure out (I suppose because I'm not taking out SS or Medicare deductions on myself). Not a big deal for what little money I made doing my micro-business groupings but I suspect its a PIA for full-time doing it proprietors. I think if a guy is working full time on his own and their income is in the middle class range, the fed gov should be satisfied just to tax the actual income and not finance the rest of the entitlement world on their backs.

Or go to a straight federal sales tax where everybody (rich, poor, in between) has skin in the game when they buy something. The current hodge podge where this person pays a lot and this person pays none and others some gets straightened out a bit. I wonder how many people I actually subsidize and how, I guess probably, I'm subsidized by someone else. Mostly its who has the best software that can work and plan things from the tax code...

There's an art to the tax code. With the Obamacare law, our tax man has been going crazy- a lot of people have been getting unpleasant surprises on how they figured some of the numbers.

It's over, at least. That's the best that I can say about it....

Ummm ... grumble ...grumble. I did my taxes back in March. About the same as the year before. Had to pay in a bit more than what the quarterlies added up to.

< sigh > It seemed like there were some changes to the tax code a few years ago because prior to that we always came out even at the end of the year. I don't think they are very friendly to self employed people. They don't appreciate that we are the ones out there with our asses on the line.

It's not like a government job. There's no security in it. You succeed or fail based strictly on your own merit.

    Anyway .... rant over.
