    No so great day scrapping

Went out today with a friend. We are rural so there are dump "sites" around the area with dumpsters. Used to be a free for all but they have decided to add small building and man these sites while they are open to turn away scrappers and watch what kinds of things are thrown out. Pretty crappy we can't salvage anything anymore. Posted several ads on CL and FB and emailed a contact back about a trailer or something they wanted hauled off. Pretty disappointed. I did manage to get a small LCD computer screen, ceiling fan, stainless 4 slice toaster, couple cut off cords, dryer wiring and front panel.

Boy, thats a costly move by the local gov't....manning a dumpster. At local gov't union rates, too?

Somebody must have a hard on for scrappers!!

Your tax money being spent wisely....Not.

    Jon.

Don't feel bad mate, one of my honey holes (ac installer) must've gotten wise to me on their cameras, they are now scrapping most of the easy pickings (copper tube) and leaving all of the difficult stuff (motors, wire etc). Sign of the times mate.

    Update
One item I garbage picked was a space heater. Decent sized one. Tested and it worked good so I posted it for $15 on FB garage sale group. Guy picked it right away.
Guess it wasn't a total loss yesterday. Anything more than scrap is $ in the bank

Do some more reading of the old threads. Learn ways to pick up regular customers and how to properly scrap more items. You may find a new direction for your scrap business. Mike

Sawmill...- Doubtful MT counties have employee unions. A lot of more rural states don't have civil workers unions except maybe teachers. In my metro, the city workers make out big (big regional shopping draw so lots of sales tax) vs. the county workers who get paid anywhere from 30-50% less (main revenue for the county is property tax and the school systems gets a majority of that cash). As the city gets bigger in pop, the county has to pay for housing the jail inmates and running the court system. The city might be benevolent when it comes to a new jail. They have funds to build it and then the county would just have to operate it. We'll see...
