    knocking Door to Door?

    Hey gang!
I only scrap a little mostly from friends who are builders and what not. But going though people's garbage makes me feel uneasy. I would prefer going door to door before trash day. I might wear nice clothes and all ways smile while I ask for scrap metal. And I would say it in a different manner such as. *Introduction* "Do you have any unwanted metal components?" I only scrap to make a little bit of side money. I have a decent paying job and all so I'm not desperate for scrap. What do you guys think? Does going through peoples garbage make you uneasy and you just deal with it? Now here in New Zealand we have Craigslist but its not that popular.

You never know until you try. It's an honest approach. It's a way to get the word about what you do. Good luck!

Make up some flyers to hand out with a list of kinds of scrap you are looking for. And wear a name tag, it makes your nice clothes look more professional and helps ease peoples fears that you are trying to steal from them. And dont forget business cards.

I dont go door to door really but i will knock sometimes when i see stuff outside and i know its been there awhile. Sometimes i get it sometimes i dont. But i only get nervous about the garbage when its right on a main/very dangerous road. Usually people that see me go through garbage give me more stuff. Its really not as strange as you make it out to be
