Don't sweat the ethics too much. I figure that if they don't know what they have then that's on them.
A few years ago when fitbits were still new and all the rage, we found one at a yard sale. My wife wanted it and it didn't have a price so I asked how much. Guy says it belonged to his Mom and she didn't like the way it fit so $5. The retail on them at that time was at least $150.
I also got a nice little gem (lapidary) grinder at the same sale for $10 I think. I sold that on
ebay for a real nice profit.
So don't sweat it just because their "precious" metals. I mean that is the whole purpose of going to yard sales, right?
