Well, not a banner week, but I did get some things. I got a brass Christmas reindeer that weighs over seven pounds for $2. I got an UPS with the battery for $! and I got a nice lead stained glass lampshade for $.50. SO I have $3.50 into the day and I get a call that someone wants a LP gas tank I sell for $10. Into the garage sale purse it goes.

Can I send rabbit feet down there, you rub them, and then send them back to me to sell...?? Either my metro is too small or the people are too tight because I've never seen a 7 lb. brass thing go for two bucks!!

Send them down. I would love to be able to share my good luck with others. They actually were asking ten dollars and I offered them two dollars... They jumped at it. It was there I got the stained glass lampshade.

Yes, and if you look closely, you will see the package of portabella mushrooms in the upper right hand side and the neufatella cheese where we took a real good stab at stuffed mushrooms.

That is Bella's. You can see her way in the background on the right. Looking at the picture now, it looks like one of those pictures where you have hunt up items.

Bazinga! I hit a treasure!... and I got pics! Scrappers gonna love this...

I hit a sale this morning and there was a ton of eclectic stuff. No prices. I told them I was a little concerned about bringing a pile up and being turned away. They said there was no problem.... So I picked, and picked, and picked. Here is what $31 got me...

If anyone has any idea what these are, let me know. Otherwise, they go for brass.

Here is the pile of copper I got...

    Here is the brass...

There are a few goodies I will ebay or keep, but I will post in another post so I don't exceed image quota.

You got it. PM your address.

So, You have seen the meat of the score, now for the taters...

A while ago I bought a welding mask for a buck or two. I bought it to be able to look at the sun during solar events and to have should I need it to weld. Well, I had no welder and a friend asked a couple years ago if I had a welding mask and I wound up selling it to him for $10. I am going to see the solar eclipse this year and I wanted a UV block. They had one there and that was thrown into the mix for the $31.

These are some other items I picked for myself, the museum cabinet, or to sell on ebay. The cruise director will look them over and make the choice on where she would like to see them displayed.

These are a salt and pepper shaker set. They are cast aluminum... I think. Doesn't matter, the cruise director says she finds them interesting...

A couple brass cannons that may make it to the cabinet, or sold on the bay...

These are the most interesting pieces...

A pistol holster, a ring size gauge, an adjustable hole saw (I have had a few before and they are very good and useful), a smaller Zippo lighter, and a tire plug kit (I actually have a better kit, but I wnted the plugs).

I also got three more copper plates( 3+ lbs)and a ship porthole that had slid into the pile of stuff in the truck

May sell or may fix and keep.

I have also mentioned the museum cabinet and thought you may be interested in seeing what it looks like....

That's incredible. Makes me want to get out and hit some garage sales myself. It has been a couple years since I have done them regularly.
I'm very happy that you did so well with that bat

It is something I enjoy doing and I keep the money aside from what I use to survive. I look at what I flip as what will eventually be the money I use for my retirement.

No. Those are items I got from a sale last week. The coins were bought using money from items sold that were bought from past yard sales. The money used to buy the gold coin came from the sale of a carved wooden bat I picked up for $1...

The items in the previous posts will be sold and used to buy more items to put away as savings. Right now I am leaning toward platinum, but I have to buy right and the premiums on platinum are a little steep for my liking.... But I would like to get some platinum.

Not to threadjack, but I'm guessing you're buying from JMBullion on ebay? I frickin LOVE their ebay store! I don't really care much about ""collectible"" silver/gold/platinum/palladium... I just want readily available/identifiable minted (not hand poured) precious metals for their metal value. I like bulk lot silver coins, too, but they tend to command a bit higher premium over spot. JMBullion regularly has PMs in their "On Sale" listings (APMEX is another with their 'daily deals' I think they call it). Yeah, you pay a small amount over spot, but it's free shipping which pretty much offsets the premium. I just ordered another little chunk of silver from JMBullion a couple days ago.

So... you paid five bucks for those two coins? I'll give you 50 for 'em. 1000% profit in just a coupla weeks. Whaddaya say?

Those were bought from ebay auctions. I find the prices there are about as good as I can find.

As to the other, tempting as the offer is,....

    I hear ya!

I wish that garage sales around here were like they apparently are in your neck of the woods. I always thought that garage sales were where people put stuff they didn't want anymore out on the driveway, and other people came around & paid a buck or two for the privilege of hauling the unwanted stuff away.

Around here, folks mark stuff with 98.6% of what they paid retail for it. I saw a VCR a couple weeks ago marked $25. Freelz. Junk tube TVs marked $50. I usually just walk up to a couple of items and know if it's even worth hanging around & browsing. And FORGET IT if their sign reads """ESTATE SALE""". Don't even bother stopping.
