Not using my yard for ewaste again

So I know I should've gone through ewasted for my escrap, but my local yard takes it too, so I figured I'd take a load there and see how they did. $36. For a load that included almost everything (I held on to my CPUs and mid grade boards) from 12 laptops and 6 towers. Not cool!

Lesson learned, albeit an expensive lesson!

It might not be so bad.

It's a learning experience and for 36 dollars you might be able to buy a digital weigh scale that goes up to 100 lbs.

If you have a scale it takes the guesswork out of the mix. You can run the numbers and know what you're going to get out of it beforehand.

One of the buyers here IS very good to work with, and i strongly recommend him, but there are shipping costs involved. It's lower for some, and higher for others, but maybe figure .55 - .80 cents a pound to ship ?

Can you give us a breakdown of what exactly you sold and how much your buyer paid per pound. If you kept the CPU's and mid grade boards what was left, the mother boards, ram and the metal from the towers. Maybe you got a better deal than you thought.

I don't remember all of it, but I know they were giving about $1.15 for gold-fingered RAM. Large socket motherboards were under $2. And that included all my aluminum & steel shred from the towers.

    This was my load: Instagram

Offer $5/lb on the ram paid on the spot!!! You can flip that for $10/lb.
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell

It's hard to tell from the picture but you could make more money by breaking down the power supplies and CD/DVD drives.

Just an offhand question, but i was curious if the pent was oes. (If it doesn't make sense it's no biggie.)

I'm pretty sure that Mech knows the buyer you're referring to, and has used him in the past, and is a seasoned vet to the forum. Nice looking out scrappah. Also if you're only making 10 per pound for ram you need to find a buyer on here, or even ebay for that matter. Sorry folks, its been one of those days. No disrespect or anger intended to anyone by this post.

$1.15 for gold finger ram is really bad. One of the yards close to me only gives .10 cents a pound for circuit boards which is just ridiculous.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

There is a very, very good buyer on this forum that I have personally used. I sent him 4 boxes, each about 70lbs (Just under- Don't go over 70 with FedEx), and all 4 boxes shipped for less than $100 total. I'm by Billings, MT, and this buyer is in Ohio. Not bad on shipping. If you fill your boxes to about 70lbs, they aren't too bad to ship.

You already know the buyer. *Cough, cough*
